Well there may be some hope for sports car / Camry Fans, namely the 2007 TRD version of the Aurion / Camry. Will they build this in the United States is the question? LETS HOPE!

With a V8 engine unlikely for the Toyota Aurion / Camry, Toyota displayed a supercharged version of the 2GR-FE V6 engine alongside the Toyota Aurion at the 2006 Melbourne Motor Show. This engine will be fitted into performance models of the Toyota Aurion and will provide more power and more torque than the basic models. It has recently been confirmed that this performance model will be under the TRD (Toyota Racing Development) brand.

Toyota has confirmed that the Toyota Aurion will carry only a six-speed automatic transmission throughout the entire range, with no manual transmission option

Yeah unfortunantly its not going to make it to N/A. The Camry is positioned differently here somewhat (marketing wise) and even then it will get the heels of the Lexus brands by offering a V8, okay you could argue it already does with the ES but let's just ignore that one for now, hee, hee:D

i wonder if there ever will be a 2007 TRD Camry. Suspension, rims, and maybe a different kit? (S/C would be great)

they offered the TRD in the past for the V6 and 4cylinder. I don't know why they never made it a "factory" option rather than a "dealer" option. If the car was sitting on the lot with the TRD goodies on it, I think it might attract a few more people than if you had to buy it and then add a "kit" to it after the fact. I guess it works OK with Scion, but camry owners are a little different than the typical tC buyer :)

I wonder what the hp numbers on the supercharged aurion will be. I dont understand squart as to what KW are aside that they measure torque I think?

300kW is around 400hp. kW is just the metric equivelant to the hp measurements you guys use...

400HP and FWD = wrap around a pole...

I just had to say it, the most power a production FWD car should have 300hp anything higher is dangerous in a rich man's hands.

Acutally the Supercharged Aurion is supposed to be AWD as well from what I had last read online. :D

I recall at the time I bought my camry, TRD really exploded and provided quality and abundance of TRD parts for basically almost all of their cars. (rebadged goodies, but u get my drift)

The Camry and gen1 solara's had really good TRD parts compared to todays camry's and gen2 solara. no more supercharger, no bilstien struts, rear sway bar, no TRD exhaust for our camry's or Solaras. now, i only see TRD rims. Eh.

And TRD Scion isn't that much "racing" in "Toyota Racing Development"

400 ponies! Toyota can bring the car here, under a different name and different looks and compete with the GTO (yes I know its going out of production) and other muscle cars! It will be the first or few Japanese muscle cars! If its already in existance then it might be cheaper to bring it here and it will be Toyota's performance car...oh well I'll just keep dreaming.

400 BHP i think somebodys makingup numbers , it dosent have anynear that much power .It will have about 240kw which i think is around 320 bhp . Also it's not all wheel drive its front wheel drive. How good would that motor be in a RX350 look out X5

Hmm, I'd really like to source a S/C'd 2GR one of these days for my V6 MR2 ... after it gets certified with the 1MZ.
