Umm, interesting, finally an update! It sort of remindes me of the Mitsubishi, can't think of the name off the top of my head. I do like that its more aggressive, although I think they could have done more with it but overall looking good. I'm wondering even if this is the next LC if it will make it to our shores...I heard the LC was being discontinued but I guess not...at leat for the N/A market.

I'm a little disappointed. I LOVED the old landcruisers. The proportions make it look like a big station wagon

The rear lamps look like sequoia. Toyota wants to hit the range rover market with the next LC.

That's what this guy is saying too:

11. Guys, I hate to break it to you, but this is the next Sequoia, not Land Cruiser.

Look at the interior -- Sequoia. The taillights are an evolution of the current Sequoia taillights, too. The front is the new Tundra facade being transplanted onto a four-door SUV. I am almost positive this is not the new LC.

I would hope the landcruiser looks cooler than this. It does look more fitting as the new sequoia.

Can't be the Sequoia... SEQUOIA is SUPPOSED TO BE bigger than the Land Cruiser....

Let's go the other way....

Also, Sequoia is supposed to have the 07 Tundra resemblence.

I doubt that is the next LC and if it is it not the NA version, most likely it is a model of the Prado for the Middle East or other parts of Asia. But i think there is a probablity that it will share some hardware or other components with the NA Sequoia

Gotcha, but it is hard to detemine vehicle size from pics. It does look rather large compared to the cars around it.

I highly doubt this is the land cruiser. Seeing as this is from the middle east, I am gonna put this out there. From my recent visit to Pakistan ( which gets the same Toyota models as the Middle East, because they are imported from there), there are no more Land Cruisers. All they have now are the Lexuses.

To me it looks like the next Parado. I have never been a fan of Parado's exterior styling. Always seemed oddly fucked upto me even with the big ass rail gaurd that people put infront of it. And this one seems to be no different.

Also, if this is a 4x4, i don't see the second shifter that is usually located next to the regular shifter on the LC.
On a side note, i notice that this Parado has the same Steering Wheel that the next Tundra has. Over all the interior looks very nice, but i am dis-appointed in the exterior.

Yes! That's the one!

If this is indeed the next Sequoia then I'm disapointed, I was expecting something more aggressive and maybe more daring (obviously not too far fetched) but maybe that's not the Sequoia's target audience. I guess we'll see.

that IS a LAND CRUISER! here's why......

- look at the grille. its def an evolution of the current LC
- the tail lights looks almost exactly like the current LC
- sequoias don't come with all terrain tires
- it has cloth seats b/c this isn't a N/A land cruiser
- sequoias don't have nice gauges like that
- this one looks like the same size as the current LC, or even smaller, so it can't be a Sequioa
- sequioas don't have chrome door handles
- sequioas have lower ground clearance - no air suspension

.....and thats not a euro corolla hatch. euro hatches don't have michigan plates.

Oman does not get sequoia's. We do get lc-prado's and lc's. To me that looks like a newer shape prado. The gear shifer to me says prado..and no lc (for those who have driven lc's at any wadhi-bashing in those countries...you know what i'm talking about).

Meaning: for those of us in stateside, this is our next Lexus GX series.

Don't you guys think it may be the base model. See the pictures closely cause I thought the LC would be more luxurious like the leather trim, wood grain or brushed aluminum, fender flares and two tone paint. Looks like the next Prado but I'll just wait 'til they release what it really is.

Um, I think everyone can see the "LAND CRUISER" beneath the tape. Also, the carry over 5 large lug pattern of the LandCruiser. The rear of the side window lines also resemble the LC. And remember, the LS has sloping rear tailights too. Im not a fan of this thing, but its definetly the next LC. The new Sequoia is gonna get independant rear suspension, not a solid axle. Notice the differential on the axle is centered and not offset like the traditional LCs. Also, the LCs have a tailgate. This new thing has a tailgate. Sequoia has a liftgate. It obviously looks similar in size to the current LC. The overhangs are kept as short as possible to keep the approach and departure anges high.

Btw, Toyota LandCruisers in the middle east comes with standart cloth seating and optional leather. I'd option for the cloth.. And 98-99 model LCs in the USA had rare standard cloth and no 3rd row seat. But there is some details missing out of that "prototype" like the rear windshield wiper, the rediculously bulging front headlight lenses and the wiered recessed headlight chrome backing. Its probably trying to show you what the next LC is gonna look like, and these are just some crappy things to throw you off. BTW, Toyota, that ass is just rediculous.

I think everyone agrees already, but I can positively confirm that it is the Land Cruiser.

The next Gen Sequoia exhaust is on the other side of the vehicle. (Right side). Land Cruiser will run down the left side. Both are designed on the Tundra Platform but of course the Land Cruiser will only be built in Japan where the Sequoia and Tundra are only built at TMMI Indiana.

That first pic of the LC is taken in Koln, Germany, outside the Toyota Formula 1 factory.

It can not be the next Prado as the Prado (a.k.a. Lexus GX) is recently new. The big (100-series) Land Cruiser is overdue for some years now. So it will be replaced before the Prado. Maybe it will be sold in the US as the Lexus LS, like the current model. But rumours about a Lexus JX indicates a larger S.U.V.-like vehicle to replace the LX. The Land Cruiser should en will be a true luxury off-road vehicle. Just look at the amount of 100-series Land Cruisers Toyota sells in the Middle-East. Striping away off-road capability to make it more S.U.V. will destroy sales in those areas, where off-road capacity is manditory.

The Land Cruiser Prado (J12) is sold as 'Land Cruiser' in Europe. The (J10) Land Cruiser (or Lexus LX470) is also sold as 'Land Cruiser' here in Europe, but often refered to as the Land Cruiser 100-series while the 'Prado' is refered to as the 120-series.

So the vehicle in the spyshot is the one that going to replace the 100-series here in Europe. This one is going to be produced beside the 120-series. This has always be the case with the Land Cruiser. There has always been a 'small' (Prado) and 'big' (often called custom wagon) version beside each other. The 40-series got the 50-series as big brother. The 70-series had the 80-series (also sold als Lexus LX450) and the 90-series (first one to be called Prado) beside the 100-series. Note that the 100-series is currently eight years old (deputed in '98 if i'm not wrong). So it seems to me the 100-series is the first one to be replaced because the 120-series was introduced somewhere in '00-'01.

CACressida

And must I say, the 100 series is a beauty, along with the 80, the 60s, the 50s, and the 40s. Jeez, there all beautiful. This new thing is gonna ruin everything!

I agree. Every landcruiser they produced looked tough. It looked you could drive it from the north of the African continent down to the south and back again, and then hook up the caravan for a vacation befor you service it. .. .. it looked undestructible.

But now they are giving it more and more a SUV look. More aerodynamic lines in it and that sort of things. I mean, the LC 120 (Prado or GX470) looks more like a plastic toy then something that can eat the most unaccessable jungles. This new LC has the same thing. It doesn't look like a tough square box with and that makes it, well, not a LC.

A LC was never designed to be 'good looking'. It was designed for a purpose, to go where no road has gone before. Now they want to make it look good.. ..so will it still get in and, more important, out of the dirt?

Ok, if that link showing the real new LC wasnt enough evidence.... here we go

1: I own a LC and the writing on the back that says landcruiser isnt raised. It is smoothed over, so you couldnt see it through tape people

2: Landcruisers haven't stock lockign center differentials when in low mode. You need to have that 2nd shifter in order to switch into low mode.

3: The landcruiser tail lights never stuck out of the back of the rear of the car, they have always been flush

4: As for all the chrome and what not, maybe toyota put it on there because its a prototype... doesnt mean it will go to production.

enough ranting now, thread dead
