according to edmunds.com it's called the Aygo a 2 seat micro car thats already in europe and they will be bring it to the US, its nothing really but a smaller Yaris.

WOW! If this is true then I'm shocked! I wouldn't have guessed the Aygo would come over here, yeah they'll modify it for our standards but this is really cool! I love the Aygo! I would think it would undermind the Yaris but then again they sell both in Europe...I guess the Aygo would be more for city run about than driving in the country or long trips but the ones in Europe get amazing gas mileage abit smaller engine than the Yaris...three cylinder 1.0ltr. If this is true then I might have to reconsider my love for the Yaris! Ha! I like both cars...I guess we'll shall see. I guess the Aygo's life cycle isn't that long, since it came out in 2005...but they mentioned the interior will stay the same so maybe its the refreshed mid-cycle model just modified for our market...similar to what Honda did with the FIT. Either way I'm digging it! From what I heard gas prices will be going up to $4 next summer or something like that...I find this a interesting move by Toyota...I would have guessed they would have the Yaris as the bottom of the line up but I guess not!

The wheelbase doesn't line up to the sketches nor does the angle of the hatch...but that would make an interesting little car over here.

It would be hard to modify it to American standard because it's pretty bare boned as it is. Sure you can remove ABS and some airbags, but I can't really see how they can make a cheaper radio, gauges and such as they did in the Yaris.

The 1.0 (3cyl) and 1.4 (common rail turbo diesel) from the Aygo are actually the same as you find in the Yaris, but especially the 1.0 feel very different. It is very noisy in the Aygo while the Yaris is much more sound proof, but it still shakes a lot because it lacks a cylinder. The funny thing about it is that the 1.0 actually doesn't feel underpowered in the Yaris. Sure it has its limits, but you will be very positively suprised when you compare it to the engines in Peugeot 207, which uses many of the engines from 206.

The Aygo compliments the Yaris perfectly in Europe because the Yaris has a lot of upscale features and a price to match that. You can say the Yaris is the Aygo of USA.
No one will mistake a corolla for an Aygo - they differ too much in size!

Besides. Soccer isn't as big in USA :D

Ah yes... I love the soccer Aygos (For those that don't know, Youtube search Top Gear + Aygo).

Let's see... would they really want to discontent it? I mean the Fit has a large price overlap with the Civic here in Canada. I mean, the Aygo was built to be inexpensive anyway. The rear window has no frame. The window IS the tailgate. Also, safety seems to be a big thing for 2006 (aside from the mp3 AUX input) so I don't know if it'll be wise to remove ABS especially if they decide to adorn it with 155/75R13 tyres or something like that.

The Yaris only comes with the 1.5 liter engine in the US. No car currently sold in the US has a smaller engine, I believe. The Aygo would be the smallest car sold in the US, both in engine size and physical size. The current version is a four door car that seats four.

Supposidly it will come late next year (07) as MY2008 or debut late next year then sell early MY2008 but still as an 08. Just speculation and from what I read. Personally I can't wait if it does come, it would be cool I don't care if people think its ugly. I think it looks spunky and unquie but each to his/her own.:thumbup:
