Is Denso Corp an independent company or does Toyota own it or have a good steak in the company? Obviously Toyota has patten the parts from Denso right? Is that how it works? Cause eventhough they may supply parts for other companies Toyota has the rights on the parts for them? Just wondering!

Great article!

Denso is a parts supplier to Toyota (I think they're the biggest).

You know there's a good relationship between these two companies when there's Denso engineer and QA reps permanently stationed at Toyota Head Offices.

Toyota owns most of Denso. Denso also builds parts for other manufacturers. I think Honda's bikes carry Denso parts.

true... though... denso is mostly into the electronics and minor electronics-related-parts within toyota automobiles. the kyoho kai group (around relatively small 230 companies- depending on source) supply most of the major parts. the kyoho is gynormous collaboration of companies within the toyota group.

heck, here's a simplified version of who supplies what for toyota:

and another interesting read about toyota being considered as a keiretsu...

We went to the Taste of Lexus event at Alameda Pointe last Saturday 9/30/06 12:30pm. One of the LS460 test cars has the option of self-parallel parking and a demo is repeated every hour. The LS460 will self-park (on a car length space) between two RX350.

Denso is majority owned by Toyota. Denso makes all kinds of parts, including a/c systems, navigation systems and so on. Denso also makes air conditioners for homes and industrial buildings. Toyota calls the shots. The same is true for AISIN AW, AISIN AI, and Fujitsu-ten. If Toyota is planning to make some kind of new, complex gew-gaw for the next new car, often engineers from Toyota, Denso, Aisin and Fujitsu-ten will meet and divvy up the design and development tasks among them.

Thanks for the info! I was just curious how much Denso played a part, I've heard of them before but didn't know what they did, besides car parts or designs.
