RAV4EVR 10-18-2006, 03:37 PM HOLY CRAP !!!
HOLY CRAP !!!
http://www.motorauthority.com/news/industry/toyotas-ahead-in-china-too/
Japanese companies operating in China have traditionally been disliked when compared with companies from Europe, the US and the rest of Asia. This couldn’t be more evident than in the Chinese auto industry, where until now Volkswagen and General Motors have been the most popular foreign makes. Studies have found that close to 70 percent of Chinese people express an unfavourable view towards Japan, largely due to military conflicts between the two nations in the past. Considering the cultural divide that Toyota is facing in China, we’re quite impressed by the carmaker’s latest performance and it just goes to show how formidable Toyota really is. The company has since doubled its sales in China for the first nine months of this year compared with last year and is outpacing its rivals, including VW and Ford, thanks to the introduction of new models.
See below.... HOLY CRAP.....
Toyota has managed to move 203,000 vehicles this year, outperforming even Ford’s amazing 105.5 percent growth rate. The increase in sales Toyota is enjoying is mainly due in part to the introduction of its Chinese-built Camry sedan, and if growth continues at this rate, Toyota could be number one in China by as early as 2008. Currently GM is at the top spot with 453,832 vehicles sold in the first half of 2006. The car pictured above is the new model Camry that’s sold in parts of Asia and will be called Aurion in other markets.
Even the Chinese could not resist the Toyota after all the wars... Holy Crap........ !!!
China is the FASTEST growing economy in the world right now. They have no national debt whatsoever. Them people lend money not borrrow it. What better place to be on TOP.
ECHOKnight2000 10-18-2006, 08:58 PM I just pissed and crapped myself at the same time:ugh3: :disappoin
Good news indeed! That's impressive, even for Toyota! :whatwhat:
Z28Wilson 10-18-2006, 09:02 PM I think it's kind of hard to forcast who will be number 1 over there in x years...the market is so huge and so untapped that all manufacturers will see monster growth there over the next few years.
dsmnick 10-19-2006, 12:57 AM GM sold 645,680 vehicles via its two local ventures in the January-September period, it said in a statement.

Oh poor DSMNICK......... forgot to quote the right statement from his own article...... I am sure forgot...
But it underperformed relatively later foreign comers in China. Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. (7203.T) and Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F (http://us.rd.yahoo.com/dailynews/finance/nm/bs_nm/storytext/autos_china_gm_dc/20621155/*http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=f&d=t) - news (http://us.rd.yahoo.com/dailynews/biz/nm/bs_nm/storytext/autos_china_gm_dc/20621155/*http://biz.yahoo.com/n/f/f.html)), for instance, more than doubled their vehicle sales in China in the first nine months of this year, they said last week.
PLEASE DON'T CRY.... GM will be fine... Toyota has no plans to kill it...
Ok... find more articles now but make sure they don't have anyting Toyota in it cuz it will always be positive. U slipped in ur last article.... LOL !!

Hmmmm... Wilson.. Let me ask u something... They are saying Toyota is growing faster than all.................. Does that mean anything to you ?
Also, I thought ur fight was to make America independent and Americans should buy only that was originated in America and built by Americans.
Now, how is Toyota sales in CHINA affecting your life principles?
dsmnick 10-19-2006, 09:41 AM It's a percentage...they had a higher percentage of growth. Think of it in simpler terms...GM sells 10 cars, Toyota sells 3. The next year, Toyota sells 3 more cars, and GM also sells 3 more cars. Toyota's growth is suddenly 100%, while GM's is only 30%. Yet GM sold 13 cars, and Toyota sold 6.
Percentages mean jack shit.

J/W...Do you know of anywhere to get marketshare values for China? I'd be interested. All I know about them is a few years ago, VW ruled there. Then GM came in with MASSIVE growth. And now Toyota has MASSIVE growth in China. As Wilson said, the Chinese market is very difficult to predict. Should be an intresesting battle.

When a company is growing as fast as Toyota, as it is in Toyota, it is forcasted to exceed GM sales in 2008, AS PREDICTED AT THIS MOMENT.
Why can't u domestic fans DIGEST that?
Your analysis means jack shit and makes absolutely no sense.

The key phrase, TN resident doofus, is "As predicted at this moment." Predictions shift, numbers can constantly flux. Hell, 12 months ago GM was seen as the unquestioned leader of growth in China. Toyota was in China at that time too, were they not? I believe they were but I could be wrong.
The point is, the Chinese have well over 1 billion potential car buyers. The auto manufacturers haven't even sold cars to 5% of that market yet. So who's to say what a market that gigantic and untapped will ultimately prefer? You can make educated guesses, but a sampling that miniscule means little.
.....Which goes back to my point of all automakers involved seeing massive growth in that market. Who will be #1 there may almost be irrelevant.

Ok. Mr.I hate the world (forget Toyota) and I hate everybody unless it is America and "pure" AMERICAN.... Whatever u say....
GM ROCKS !!
Will I need ur permission to put something positive Toyota related here? Is it taboo?

It must really hurt your head to keep coming up with so many words yet saying so little that's actually relevant to the conversation. :) I'm only asking for a logical discussion here.
Toyota has made great inroads in China, as have all manufacturers. The Chinese market is a powder keg of economic potential for outside corporations, and not just autos.
FWIW, I think (surprise surprise! Once again....) you twisted my thoughts and words about this thing we call a "global economy". I do not hate things that do not originate here. I prefer things to be made here and I don't mind checking out country of origin tags to see(either out of morbid curiosity or an actual attempt to find something made in the U.S.) It's called being educated about what you're buying...you may try it sometime(?)

Yes. I would be saying more if I was admiring GM. Absolutely, all empty words now.

It is more than "great" but it would HURT YOU to admit that... hence all this argument here. My putting this article really hurt u. Didn't it?
FWIW, I think (surprise surprise! Once again....) you twisted my thoughts and words about this thing we call a "global economy". I do not hate things that do not originate here. I don't have to twist anything. U prove urself. U r a living/writing example.. ;)

Prefering is different. Angry enough to be posting what u post -->HERE<-- is something else.. Think about it.

Hey I have already admitted it. U and your "friend" here are the most educated here and ofcourse only educated people would know that domestics are good for them. Right?

What do you suggest I say that says it even stronger than "great"? Ooooo Ooooo I know, I need these: (queue the happy seal sound effects)   :whatwhat: :whatwhat:
You have a problem with anyone that doesn't worship at the feet of Toyota. Even the other members here that own Toyotas. Seriously dude......stop being the opinion Nazi and just let things flow....
I apologize that I didn't skin my knees falling down to "praise" Toyota at the drop of a hat. I have learned my lesson. With any luck, you will accomplish your goal of turning TN into the most trite, boring enthusiast site on the net.
Prefering is different. Angry enough to be posting what u post -->HERE<-- is something else.. Think about it.
Uhhhh...who's angry? I made that one comment about my personal preferences in a thread discussing the Global Economy. Where else is the appropriate place to mention it, in your eyes? Why do YOU keep bringing it up? Talk about anger.....
Anyways. What a shame. Another potentially stimulating thread predictably ruined by the predictable person.
Z28Wilson 10-19-2006, 04:26 PM Hmmmm... Wilson.. Let me ask u something... They are saying Toyota is growing faster than all.................. Does that mean anything to you ?
I'll try to steer this back on course and answer your question.
Toyota being #1 for growth in China right now means just that. GM was in the same position a year ago, with Toyota there. You can't take anything for granted in a market that immense.
Remember that the Chinese have homegrown automakers like Chery coming online. The quality of their products is pretty horrendous right now....but when they learn how to build cars, it'll be interesting to see how the Chinese take to their own.
Biggest question for me right now is not how brand x is doing over there....it's "how bad is the strain on world oil supplies going to be once half of China is driving??" Granted, we may not have to worry about that for a while yet, but eventually we'll need to develop reliable alternative fuel vehicles. I want to see companies taking the lead in that area more than anything else.

1) It is very simple. The article stated that Toyota will be #1 by 2008 at the current pace with the current variables. Before u and ur friend even posted anything, it was obvious that such a thing would piss u two off considering the news and u will try to find holes in "life" to negate that. I was happy to read that regardless of what MIGHT change in the future. I am sure if you had heard any good GM news, you or the other guy would be the first one to post it HERE.
2) I agree with u on the alternate fuel thing. Would u be happy if Toyota starts selling its Hybrids in China? Not completely alternate fuel but depend less on fuel. Toyota is already giving away licenses to other companies for hybrid technologies so that will help other manufacturers in China. Ok. U won't be happy. I forget again. It is Toyota. Will it make u happiER? How about GM was putting Hybrids in China? How about that? Will that make u very happy?
I think I may have to put a GM logo on my signature as a bullet shield. What will I need on GMI then?
Then everything I say will make sense. It will all be decent conversation then.
If I was retired, I would be at GMI in a blink and give them the "general auto discussion" treatment.
Every GM article they put up, I say,.... "Oh it is horrible. GM is doing horrible."
Considering both companies track record so far, such comment will make more sense on GMI rather than here at Toyota but it is posted anyway and then no reaction is expected either... I can't ignore that.
Let's face it, and I am speaking from facts AS USUAL, not opnions based on the complicated LIFE EQUATION thrown at me whenever I say something Toyota positive, GM has more LOYAL followers than Toyota. Toyota is a new comer to USA relatively and only the last generation started fully switching to it. The wrath I will face at GMI will be way bigger than what you and your friend have to deal with here. Nobody says anything here. Everygbody is open to everything. People are here to discuss anything....
I have read GMI posts.... there is absolutely NO ROOM for Toyota admiration or any other manufacturer. Either everbody is putting the Tundra down and if somebody does say something different, his/her stand is usually neutral FEARING the death shall eat him/her if he/she says something positive related to any other manufacturer.. God forbid....
We also have "dormant" GM resident fans here. Nyscene is one of them but he stays cool most of the time.. lol ... Few words here and there but he is not insulting like you two.
A lot of aggression is shown by you and ur friend... I am completely attracted to somebody who is full of hate (That would make me deeply in love with u) ...
Z28Wilson 10-19-2006, 06:10 PM I am sure if you had heard any good GM news, you or the other guy would be the first one to post it HERE.
Oh, I've heard plenty of GM good news. I haven't posted any of it here though. I see no need to.

Selling hybrids in China would be a start I suppose, but hybrids are more of a stopgap solution than anything...there are still too many impracticalities that come along with a car like the Prius, or even a full electric car like the old GM EV1, to make sweeping changes in the market.
Let's face it, and I am speaking from facts AS USUAL
So lemme get this straight. Your facts are indisputable and beyond the need for comment--but when Nick, or myself, or anyone else posts a fact (like GM is also continuing to grow in China, was very recently the growth leader and still holds the sales lead) you spit venom. This topic would probably already be buried on forum page 2 right now if no one had an opinion (other than "yay go Toyota they rock!"). You can only do that for so long, can't you? I can't speak for Nick, but I was only pointing out that "growth leader" in China is an unstable position...and with the size of the market, maybe irrelevant.
]I have read GMI posts.... there is absolutely NO ROOM for Toyota admiration or any other manufacturer.
That's probably why I don't post at or read GMI. It sounds like it's too close-minded. There are many more GM sites out there. Are you suggesting that TN is Toyota's version of GMI and that I should look elsewhere for a Toyota forum? :)
Few words here and there but he is not insulting like you two.
You call what I have said to you "insulting"? C'mon, I haven't even warmed up. Don't plan to either.

Sure. What was I thinking. U only need to be negative about Toyota news so u don't need to bring articles. There is enough material here... LOL !!

GM EV1 is nowhere to be found. Your response about the Prius was typical.. as I suspected..
"yeah.. yeah it is good but not really... " LOL !!!!!!
,.... and please don't compare the EV1 to the successful Prius technology... It is just not fair... LOL !!!
Do u ever get tired of ur closemindedness? Phew.... What has gone in ur head is staying there and nothing new is going in there. Reminds me of a roommate I had... Couldn't change him ever... LOL !!!

You see. That is exactly you are good at. You will take a nice house for example and take bugs out of it. If that house is GM house for example, there will be absolutely no problem with it in ur mind. Yes u simply pointed out.... "Hey don't tell me Toyota is becoming leader, GM might also be." WHICH is exactly not what is going on but u decided to bring in ur own variables that will make the equation give the results according to ur satisfaction. I must say u r really good at this variable game. U take away and bring in anything u wish and make sure the word GM is mentioned somewhere.... Like I said, a person needs to tatoo GM on his/her forehead for u to stay smiling.
That's probably why I don't post at or read GMI. It sounds like it's too close-minded. There are many more GM sites out there. Are you suggesting that TN is Toyota's version of GMI and that I should look elsewhere for a Toyota forum? :)
I am not saying TN is like GMI. Read my post again.. Everybody is open minded here and that is why all ur GM stuff is tolerated here but the complaints continue... U can't take one person complaining against GM vehicles because they are just so holy. GM is so on right track.. WATCH OUT TOYOTA...
What do u think of urself when it comes to open mindedness? Don't answer it if it puts u on the spot.
You call what I have said to you "insulting"? C'mon, I haven't even warmed up. Don't plan to either.
Go ahead warm up.... Show me what u got...
I know what u r and what u stand far.... Whatever... U just can't handle good news from Toyota. It burns u inside that it is not GM. It all has to be GM to you. Can't get that sweet sleep.. Well guess what,... there are going to be many many sleepless nights for u and ur kind. ........ Oh wait I am sorry... market can change any time right? GM might be very successful when we get up after a few months... I get it... I should have learned that by reading both automakers 50 year history.... Last 50 years Toyota was NEVER growing and GM was never shrinking....
U need to step outside the basement ur in...
EDIT: Where r u? Come back here. I miss ur life's logic already.. LOL..!

The Prius was obviously the more successful technology because it was practical technology. Who wants to plug in a car every so often? Range on the EV1 wasn't very good. It was a good research project for GM but they spent enough to know it wasn't going to get any more practical. The mistake they made was going for the "all or nothing" approach. Toyota had a different approach and hit a home run.
Do u ever get tired of ur closemindedness?
Pot...Kettle...Black? I was just thinking, in the time I've been here I don't think I've ever seen you say you liked the looks of anything from any other manufacturer. Is there one car in the history of automobiles that didn't wear a Toyota badge that you can look at and say "wow....that's hot"? I mean, you seriously strike me as the kind of guy who would take an old Cressida over a Lamborgini Gallardo....nothing wrong with that I suppose.....:ughcool:
If Toyota becomes #1 in China, more power to 'em. Any manufacturer selling in China is going to make a boatload of $$$, so I'm not at all worried. Going back to my original point (again....), the market is fluctuating there. When the dust settles, it's going to be interesting to see who's #1. Heck, I don't have a stake or any ties to GM, believe it or not. I don't live and die with GM. After all, my signature doesn't proclaim "GM = OXYGEN".

Oh Mr.Wilson... How sad that u ask me the question about Toyota's history and ask if there was a hot car... ? Why would u think there would be a hot car from Toyota considering ur mind. It does not matter what Toyota has or had... ur thinking is going to be.. GM rocks.. GM rocks.. GM rocks... which was probably the song played to u when u were in ur mother's womb... I am not even going to try to ATTEMPT to tell u about Toyota's history. I would rather explain that to a dog. A dog will be more understanding enough. Millions of people in this world are ABANDONING GM and coming to Toyota.. and u here stuck in ur NON-Walmart world, probably walking around in a military uniform, with US flag on it from the Vietnam era and a few guns in ur car, needs to come to the civilian world and see what has gonig on.
If Toyota becomes #1 in China, more power to 'em. Any manufacturer selling in China is going to make a boatload of $$$, so I'm not at all worried.

I will take a burned down CRESSIDA with bare metal over ALL non-Toyota vehicles in this world in a blink.... Sorry.. Did I light another fire under ur ass??
Don't loose ur sleep. Toyota won't kill GM. It wants to keep GM around for political purposes because there are many people like u who would paint their bodies different color and come out in the street waving American flags thinking that they are doing a loyal thing..

It really was more like a research project than anything....if you'd actually like to know....The EV1 was not available for sale but rather was leased by GM to a select few customers in certain markets. When the project was ended GM repossessed the cars and destroyed them. Cost was the main reason. Parts for them were too expensive to manufacture. The same greeny celebs that now drive Priuses were the ones that leased EV1s as part of the project and led the protests against GM's actions. As Paul Harvey would say, "now you know the rest of the story." :)
Oh Mr.Wilson... How sad that u ask me the question about Toyota's history and ask if there was a hot car... ?
I honestly have no earthly idea what you are talking about in this paragraph. Reading comprehension...try it. I asked if YOU ever looked at a car from another manufacturer and actually kinda dug it. It looks to me like you can't put the pom-pons down long enough to look at something else and give an objective opinion.
it is going to happen no matter how much u burn inside for the rest of ur life...

Hey that's wonderful. Just as long as you realize that because of this, your opinions and insights into the automotive industry are trite and irrelevant at best. Quite honestly, I find cheerleaders boring. I'd rather watch what's happening on the field and get my info that way.

Oh God. So basically. The Camry will be bought. Systematically abused. Tortured. and then the tortured body will be showed here on the net claiming it was a flawed car..
I think you've got it backwards. Replace "GM' with "Toyota" in your post above and it describes you 1000x better than the other way describes me.
Oh original a comment u sent back to me...
U refuse to give urself credit for what u have portrayed urself out to be. Nobody would care about what you do. U can walk around in a GM logo underwear and I would not care.. be happy with urself just don't burn if somebody doesn't have the GM logo tatooed on his penis..
Hey that's wonderful. Just as long as you realize that because of this, your opinions and insights into the automotive industry are trite and irrelevant at best.
U see. I have explained to you at best what exactly you twist around. You have understood it but you refuse to admit it. It is a man thing. I know. I am pretty sure your insights/comments/opinions/twisted facts/sarcasms are all VERY RELEVANT to everything we talk about here everyday CONSIDERING you don't care to LEARN anything here but TEACH us....
Quite honestly, I find cheerleaders boring. I'd rather watch what's happening on the field and get my info that way.
Hmmmm.. are u telling me u don't look at the cheerleaders? Why? Because they wear dresses NOT made in USA?? Who cares about the legs right... They are wearing MADE IN THAILAND panties...
When you stop paying attention to what is happening in the field. When you stop trying to understand what is happening in the field. When you stop listening and blocking to everything that does NOT have the world GM in it, and the ONLY THING U DO is throw ur own material out in the field .........................WHY ARE YOU looking the field........ or what is ure purpose there... ?
Here is a little something for a very loyal and patriot American. We are all Americans only by name.. Right..??!!!
http://movies.msn.com/movies/movie.aspx?m=786710
Academy Award-winning director Clint Eastwood adapts co-authors James Bradley and Ron Powers' book Flags of Our Fathers: Heroes of Iwo Jima for this tale about a man who discovers that his father was one of the six men who raised the American flag at the Battle of Iwo Jima. Bradley knew that his father fought in World War II, but it's only after the aged veteran dies over a half-a-century later that the unsuspecting son will learn of the remarkable bravery that led American troops to a key victory over the Japanese in one of the war's most pivotal battles. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
Hey....... I HEARD THEY USE GM VEHICLES IN THIS MOVIE..
PS... They tried to destroy the Toyoda factory during WWII if the second atom bomb had not made them surrender.... Too bad for you.. that never happened...

Dana_15 10-20-2006, 12:32 PM These threads are stupid and full of ignorance, is there any moderators here at all?
nyscene911 10-20-2006, 12:57 PM Jesus Christ Rav4, every god damned day you're picking a fight with someone else, calling the "anti's" and rambling on about god know what ruining every thread on this forum. Cool it, its getting annoying. Message forums are for discussing ideas. Just because someone doesn't circle-jerk toyota like you do isn't a reason to turn this whole site into a flamewar.

Blacksupra93 10-20-2006, 02:50 PM seriously rav4 and z28wilson...do you two ever get sick of bitching at each other?
WE get it. Rav4 is an avid toyota fan Z28Wilson likes american cars.
Agree to disagree sometimes. It seems like every thread I try to read is just you two going at it.
How much free time do you two have?
RAV4EVR 10-20-2006, 05:12 PM Well said.
Per the request of the Toyota fans on this board, I will leave ur stubborn ass alone FOR NOW and ignore ur comment. BUT don't count on it in the future if u misbehave. Post on.

As a "resident GM fan", ofcourse you blame me for all this mess.

Yes, because look what you do. Nick posts, you flame. Wilson posts, you flame. Believe it or not, we were actually to have some intelligent discussions between Nick and some posters here (although I'm sure some have left) before you came along. You love Toyota. Great, terrific, I'm sure you're very happy with your cars. But for fucks sake, quit being such an ass to everyone.

Don't worry man, I don't just blame you. I blame you both :D (and im not a GM fan, i know the comment wasnt pointed at me)
I'm a major toyota fan and I tend to be critical of every make, but they way you defend toyota so valiantly sometimes baffles me. They're great cars....but theyre not perfect.
And arguing wont make them perfect.
"Cant we all just get aloooong...."
dsmnick 10-20-2006, 07:10 PM J/W...Do you know of anywhere to get marketshare values for China? I'd be interested. All I know about them is a few years ago, VW ruled there. Then GM came in with MASSIVE growth. And now Toyota has MASSIVE growth in China. As Wilson said, the Chinese market is very difficult to predict. Should be an intresesting battle.
I just noticed your post got completely lost in the rest of this thread...last year, GM passed VW with the largest market share in China.
As of late 2005, GM had about 11.2% of the Chinese market, where it only had 9% a couple years earlier. I'm not sure what it's at now or what any other automakers is.

I start a post with Toyota China and they fill it with their negative sarcasm... Should I stay quiet?

You know I was told 6 months ago that the "General discussion" area was ok to have both sides discussed. Now these WORMS flame the Toyota News area. Then everybody expects me to keep my mouth shut. I never said Toyota was perfect, just better than everybody when it comes to long term durability and business practices. I have the RIGHT to say that on the Toyota board. Is there no place on the internet where only Toyota loyalists can discuss Toyota with no GM/Ford "strings" attached? I don't think so now.
I mean I am criticized for having Toyota=Oxygen logo on a Toyota board.
Next time these domestic worms write smart ass comments on my Toyota News thread, there won't be anybody worse than me in this world.
I will stop taking breaks at the REST AREAS now to respond as this is my vacation and I have a 12 hour drive left to Arizona. These two can enjoy some free ignorant domestic automobile discussion time without intereption.
I cannot believe such mentality is allowed and TOLERATED here. I can understand if these domestic worms wants to infest the General Discussion area.

RAV, read every post in the order that they happened. I posted a link to an article that stated GM's sales because the article you posted only had sales for the first half of the year. Then you go and tell me "don't cry" and you start making personal comments when you should have just chilled out. I ignore it, show a little example about how percentages don't accurately display sales growth, nyscene911 asks a question about GM's marketshare, and then from there on, you bring your own thread down in flames.
It seems as if someone doesn't post one of these  in one of your threads proclaiming the brilliance that is Toyota, they are on your hit list. It's pretty fucking sad we can't have a conversation without you going on and on about the members rather than the actual topic of the post. That's your problem...you focus all your energy on blasting the posters rather than actually discussing the information in the post. If you want to rip on us, do it in a PM...there's no reason to keep ruining threads with posts like this:
I am sure if my signature read GM=oxygen,.. u would be dancing in the rain... like a little girl.. Right? It burns u inside to see the word Toyota written down... ha.. ha.. .. now I am happy... Not good for ur health to take it that serious. May be one day u wanna marry a GM girl and have GM kids... if u don't live that long,... u will never go to that GM themed marriage of urs and then GM themed graduation of ur kids... not to mention the GM themed funeral u will be having... ... A GM logo on ur tombstone will also be put... LOL !!! Seriously, what the hell do FUNERALS have to do with ANYTHING in this topic?

I cannot believe such mentality is allowed and TOLERATED here. I can understand if these domestic worms wants to infest the General Discussion area. You have the right to speak your mind on your love for Toyota, but you don't have the right to keep flaming domestic fans (and other members) on this board.
If you don't agree with our viewpoint, then just let it roll off your back, laugh a little, and be done with it. There's no need to get angry at us.
As for Toyota=Oxygen, if you fully understood Z28's post you would have realized he was referring to your pissy attitude towards anything that isn't a Toyota. It's not your tagline that's the problem (if every member had that in their avatar, I don't think anybody could care less)...it's your attitude that's the problem.
Honestly, why are you posting here on a family vacation? Can't you get away from the internet for a week? Maybe it's a sign you need a break from TN to let yourself cool down a bit.
