I guy! I'm new here and i wanna ask some question to you, the know-it-all toyota expert!!!

I've found an old toyota pick-up 1984
4cyl
4x4
125000 miles
I wanna know if this is a good truck, if there is some common issue whith them (frame, engine, tranny, everything) Anything you can tell me can help... good or bad!

thank you very much!

Hello
I have a 93 w/ the same setup (same body style and all).
Great truck runs forever just as long as you change the oil and all mine has 202,000 on her now still does preety good but could stand a rebuild.
Biggest thing I've seen is they like to crack exhaust manifolds.
I dunno why. Guess it's a good excuse to put a header on it. :)
C-YA!!

They have timing chains with evil plastic guides. :hammer:

Just watch out for the usual rust on the under frame rail. and test drive a couple! at least it has a solid axle and the 22r not the 22re right. Does 84 have the newer body style or is that just 85 and up?? If your into rock crawling get the 85 with solid axle and with a 22re (fuel- injected)

just replaced the noisy timing gear.it has 146 on it and going strong.it was a new experience but im more comfortable with the engine now.it wasnt bad just different. ive worked on small-block chevys all my life until this truck and it was a learning experience.i went with all toyo parts for reliability. i have some toyo mechainic friends and they swear by the toyo parts.
