ANY Taco owners out there go hunting???

Show you pictures of your game from this fall............with your truck if possible.

Here is my best Whitetail ever......Taken Nov 27th on the Canadian prairie..........:D 350 yard shot (with my trusty old Rem BDL '06....Hornady 165 light Mags) on the open prairie , very windy, snowy conditions....

4000 Km trip........... truck performed nicely all the way.......lots of slippery 4x4 conditions! (-12 to -26 degrees....brrrr) Even the Rugged trail tires worked fine.....http://members.shaw.ca/artist-angler/DSCF0634%20%20Terry%20%205x5.JPGugged

Thanks for sending us the birds

Hahahaha, that was a good one... but if you're serious, keep your friggin opinions in your ignorant head. I get sick of people thinking that it's worse to hunt and eat animals that are wild, but OK for you to eat a cow that was bread for it... it's all fine. that's why we're at the top of the food chain. Go join PETA.

You guys do make valid points about hunting. While the end result is the same, we eat killed animals, I think the objection is the fact that he does the killing. While it shouldnt matter because both involve killing animals, I think picking your meat at the grocery store seems to be alot less impressionable on someone then killing it yourself.

As a biologist I do not particulary like hunting and will never do it but I do realize that they are indeed the same in that both ways result in the killing of animals. We are just like all other omnivores and carnivores, we require meat/protein to remain healthy so theres no difference between a lion killing an antelope and a person killing a deer. So basically, I dont like hunting but I am not going to condone it either.

The only reason I get pissed is if the hunter kills the deer and doesnt do anything with it (eat it). Like I said we need protein just like any other animal but when someone just kills for the thrill and not nutrition, thats just wrong in my opinion.

This is just my opionion and everyone is entitled to their own so dont get offended by mine.

Hey, man. You ned to take a trip to a slaughter house to get a first-hand look at how those animals are "harvested" for that grocery store meat.

Hunting animals ensures their overall survival by keeping the numbers from inflating. If one species is allowed to overpopulate, it can kill off several other species. Like into extinction. Do you want that? Hunting and harvesting animals is a good thing. I don't do it much, don't care too much for it. But I understand and agree with it's purpose.

if you don't like hunting, that's fine, if you read the title of the thread, it says any taco owner's out there go hunting? bucks and trucks.

didn't see anything about complaining that hunting is messed up. deer have plenty of ammo to fight back with, they have thousands upon thousands of acres to hide in. acres that they know more about than we can ever hope to know. they have their noses, their eyes and there instincts. this gives them plenty of advantages over us. the ones that actually get shot don't always trust those instincts and it gets them in trouble.

do you have a taco? do you like it? do you realize that if there were no hunting that deer, ducks, squierrels(SP?), racoons, rabbits, beavers, turkeys, doves, pheasants, buffalo, you name it would be so overpopulated that you wouldn't be able to drive to work, you wouldn't have much of a yard.

i respect your opinion, i understand the argument, but in order for you to have some of the "freedoms" you have, animal populations have to be kept in check. do your research, find out how many vehicles were totaled and or damaged by wildlife last year in this country. you'll be suprised, i guarantee it.

BillBrasky

^Not thwarting your effort, but, if all those species you listed were protected from harvest, they would not overpopulate the earth...they would simply die off from lack of food, water and shelter to go around. And, the species that those critters survive upon would also die off due to their place in the food chain and the demand for food. This includes plants, too.

Something to think about.

Oh I am well aware of what goes on in slaughterhouses. My only complaint is when people hunt animals and dont eat it or do anything with the animal. I guess I dont see the value in killing an animal if I am not going to consume it. While slaughterhouses kill animals in horrible ways, at least their killed for consumption.

If you hunt animals and eat them then I have obolutely no problem with it.

Again I do not mean to offend anyone, so please do not take it the wrong way.

I do not know a single hunter who does not eat what they shoot. What would be the point? I love to eat what I get and use every bit that I can from the meat to the antlers and hide.

Thanks for making this thread a pseudo political post guys.

In 1985 when my dad purchased he first new truck, he shot a near perfect ten pointer and in 2004 when I purchased my new first truck, I shot this. Now he's hanging on my wall and god dam did he taste good.

I used to be against hunting when I was younger. I've come to realize that it's fine...and it creates a good environment for male bonding...and tasty food that you can't buy in the grocery store. I don't like when animals suffer....but you gotta go to a slaughter house...oh god...that is gross....hunting looks like a cake walk to that! so for those that hunt...keep hunting...but more importantly ....don't shoot each other~!!! a lot of hunters get shot in hunting season...so wear your hunting colors!!! have a good one

Do you do the shulls yourself or have a taxidermist do them?

I picked up an 1187 Super Mag for myself for christmas so I`ve been testing it out. It`s about a 300 mile trip through the mountains to where we hunt and we take my truck every time :D I did 34 miles through the storm in 4wd trip before last.
This is by far the most stable truck in the snow and ice I`ve ever been in.

Me and the old dog made a solo trip recently

I tried to get some pics of the mulies out in the farmlands but they were too far away. There were 13 bucks I could see in the herd, two of them were BIG a 5X5 and a 4X4 , there were a couple of nice bucks also and a bunch of smaller ones. The smaller bucks were sparring but no one was messing with the big boys.

Veru nice to see all the posts here..................!

The WT skulls, I actually do them myself...............Can't afford to pay a taxidermist and make payments on my truck..............:))

Takes some time, and lots of scraping..............And a bottle of 40vol peroxide (from hairdressing shop) 2 applications and the bleaching is about done!

Just didn`t know what I was getting into with the new model. Honestly I didn`t even know it was redone for `05 I walked onto the lot looking for a dark green extra cab and had to ask the salesman where the Tacoma`s were.......... I was standing right next to them I thought they were the Tundras.

I like what you did with your mounts
I was wondering if you did the peroxide
I`ve heard a couple of different ways to do them.
My brother does the eurpoean mount kind of like the skulls but only with the top part down to the nose.
My nephew found a wild boar skull when we were dove hunting this year I was thinking about bleaching it out for him.

Not all the time. Usually put it on when I'm loading up all my stuff to go hunting so that I don't forget it and don't take it off until I wash the truck. As of right now it is still on there cause it has been cold and I haven't had time to wash the truck off. I do get a lot of looks and laughs when people are sitting next to me at a light or when cruising down the highway.

The weather was crazy in VA this past week, but since it was the last week of deer season I figured I would try to get one more for the freezer. I shot a good doe with my muzzleloader last Wednesday. It was 15 degrees when I left my hunting cabin in the morning, and by 11am it was 62 degrees....talk about a crazy temperature change:confused:.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/trailhopper/Doe_2.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/trailhopper/Doe.jpg

It was so warm I decided to butcher her that day. While I was hanging her up one of the pullies in my hoist system broke:mad:. So, I tied a rope to the tow hitch on my Tacoma and put the truck to work as my pulley system:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/trailhopper/tredit.jpg

It was all worth it though.....I made a fresh batch of jerky as soon as I got home :licklips:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/trailhopper/PDR_0482.jpg

Now it's time to grab the shotgun to do some grouse hunting and grab the fishing pole to catch some trout....luckily I can do both in the mountains around my cabin, I love the Shenandoah Valley.
