In a gala event recalling the Academy Awards, the International Car of the Year Awards were announced last night in Detroit, kicking off the North American International Auto Show press-preview days.
Put on by Courtney Caldell, the tireless editor in chief of Road and Travel magazine roadandtravel.com (http://www.roadandtravel.com/), these awards are selected by a jury of automotive journalists. They take a whimsical approach and emphasize the emotional connection we have with our cars.
The ICOTY winners for 2007:
1. Most Compatible (minivan): Hyundai Entourage
2. Most Resourceful (SUV): GMC Yukon
3. Most Dependable (sedan): Toyota Camry
4. Most Spirited (entry-level car): Mazdaspeed 3
5. Most Athletic (pickup truck): Chevrolet Silverado
6. Most Versatile (crossover): Mazda CX 7
7. Most Sex Appeal (sports car): Jaguar XK
8. Most Respected (luxury car): Lexus LS 460
9. Truck of the Year: Chevrolet Silverado
10. Car of the Year: Lexus LX 460"
