The all-new Toyota Corolla has been awarded a maximum five-star safety rating for adult occupant protection in the highly regarded Euro NCAP tests.

And so did the new Yaris, Auris, Avensis, Prius, Rav4 and Verso.
There are many car makers who up the safety for the European marked, but there also some that still have not learned: Chevrolet (Daewoo) and Chrysler are still way behind while Hyundai isn't doing well either with the Sonata.

Lexus has 5 stars for all the vehicles, but I still have a problem with the IS and the pedals that didn't work perfectly - the 5 star rating had to be saved by the use of seatbelt alarm!

I know consumer reports will be happy with this rating...I know its for Europe but I'm sure the U.S. might be the same of course it depends on how the car is equiped. I'm sure Toyota will include more safety standards to be more competative and safe.;)

The a-pillar buckled ever so slightly.

driver's knee airbag.. that's a nice touch considering how close the knees are to the lower dashboard.

What I really hope is Toyota going away from coloured door frames (like the CE model here). Honestly, that just detracts away from the design and since the CE is the best seller, people who don't know anything about cars will just assume all Corollas look like that and to be honest, it looks kinda ugly (no offense to CE owners here).

They've done that with the Yaris by offering blacked out B-pillars so hopefully they'll do that for the NA Corolla even in its base form (or at least base form + some package).
