Webb26 04-10-2007, 04:53 PM Why don't you just get it done by a shop. Or even a wild idea...try and tackle the job yourself. Its not that hard, and you can rent the tools at your local autostore. eledan 04-10-2007, 05:55 PM I agree, try it yourself. Might be fun, and you will learn more about your car that way. jibbs 04-10-2007, 06:07 PM yeah ive decided im gonna do it myself. maybe my friends can help out, thanks guys. can i rent all tools to install springs at autozone maybe? white3ch0c0late 04-10-2007, 07:28 PM ^All you'll really need for the job is a set of spring compressors (you can rent it at autozone... you pay a $40 deposit, and you have 3 months to return it, and when you do, they give you your $40 back), a good socket wrench (probably like a 1/2" drive or larger) and good variety of socket sizes, a breaker bar, and a knife to cut the bump stops. thapranksta 04-11-2007, 12:36 AM ^All you'll really need for the job is a set of spring compressors (you can rent it at autozone... you pay a $40 deposit, and you have 3 months to return it, and when you do, they give you your $40 back), a good socket wrench (probably like a 1/2" drive or larger) and good variety of socket sizes, a breaker bar, and a knife to cut the bump stops. don't you need a jack too? white3ch0c0late 04-11-2007, 12:48 AM  Well, I figure thats a given, right? :) thapranksta 04-11-2007, 01:04 AM  Just wanted to make sure there isn't a hidden technique or something. jibbs 04-11-2007, 01:52 AM hahah. nice. thanks guys for all the help. ill probably install em next weekend. ill post up some pics... wooo frst mod!! thapranksta 04-11-2007, 01:58 AM Actually looking into installing some TRD springs myself. My only drawbacks are the hills in my area and if I am actually competent enough to install them. It would be nice to get some rims and tires too but I got to make a cutoff somewhere. Tax money has its limits.:) jibbs 04-11-2007, 01:58 AM oh btw how do i do the alignment when its installed? white3ch0c0late 04-11-2007, 02:59 AM ^Yes, you will need an alignment for sure. After I installed mine, my alignment was so all over the place, you wouldn't believe. thapranksta 04-11-2007, 03:02 AM How long did you drive before you got an alignment? white3ch0c0late 04-11-2007, 10:37 AM ^I finished lowering the car at around 6pm. Drove home from my friend's place where I was working on it. The next morning, I took it for an alignment. jibbs 04-11-2007, 10:48 AM how much is alignment? white3ch0c0late 04-11-2007, 10:51 AM ^Like around $70 or so for most alignment and tire shops. jibbs 04-11-2007, 10:57 AM oh ok. thanks Webb26 04-11-2007, 12:10 PM Depending on how low, or how much your alignment is off, you might want to look into camber bolts. jibbs 04-12-2007, 11:45 PM whats the difference between a strut spring tool and a coil spring compressor? which one do i rent? | |
