I have a 1995 T100 SR5 that I have been chasing a starting issue.. I have read one way to tell if the issue is with the fuel pump check valve is to turn the key on (without starting) for about 10-15 seconds 3 or 4 times and then try.. Supposedly this cycles the fuel pump to put pressure in the system.. My question is, should you hear the fuel pump cycle when you do this? I tried this today and mine makes no noise at all! Nothing! When I try to start the truck after doing this it still cranks and cranks.. I thought you should be able to hear the pump when doing this??? Thanks for any help!

I thought the the pump only worked when cranking or running. what you might try is to crank for 2 seconds and then stop and try to start it this will pressurize the lines. If this works the check valve that keeps fuel pressure is either gummed up or gone bad. Try a couple of cans of seafoam in the tank next fill up. You can get it at most auto parts and our Walmart has it.
