When ever I turn the car off, I always turn off the AC and turn the volume down to 0 and power off the radio as well. 99% of the time I simply use the steering wheel controls. Well last night we went out shopping and when we got the Camry parked and were getting ready to get out I powered off the AC and used the volume knob to turn down the radio before powering it off. To my surprise the knob did nothing for the sound adjustment. I typically always use the wheel controls and I'm not sure why I decided to use the knob that time but now I think I have a defective radio. I've used the volume knob maybe 3 times in the 15 months of ownership of the car so it's not like it should be worn or broken. Has anyone else come across this (yes I searched first), this is with the JBL stereo. TIA

Never heard of this problem. As long as the problem continues to appear, just let the dealer deal with it. It is their problem to fix such obvious defects.

Yeah, I'll be taking it in probably this weekend, just wondering if I'm the first to have the issue. My luck says it won't work until I show up at the dealership, then like a miracle, it will work. I'm going to push for a replacement either way.

I have the same problem in a 09 Camry.
Did you have to replace the radio?
I'm concern with the noises on the car after removoving and installing the stereo.

I had the same problem on my car. The problem is that without being able to replicate it on three separate visits to the dealership, I gave up. Shortly thereafter, I started having other problems like CDs would randomly eject, volume would drop and raise on their own, weird characters all over the screen, etc. When I had the problems with the weird characters, I took pictures with my cell phone and showed them to the service advisers at the dealership. It took about 6 months and about six visits to the dealership before they finally actually replaced the head unit on my car. Since then I have had absolutely no problems.

I'm not feeling these head units at all.
The display and the back light on mine flickers when I hit bumps or when I simply drive over grooves in the road.
I wanna replace it with an aftermarket unit but I hate how bland the kit looks.

For what it's worth. The volume control on my 08 JBL 6-CD radio began taking longer and longer breaks. Steering wheel controls worked fine. I stopped by my dealer today to see if someone could take a look. The Service Writer leaned in my car, twisted the knob, handed me his clipboard, said "Sign here and I'll give you a call when the new head unit comes in."

The new unit finally showed up. No problems, no charge. Took about an hour at the dealer.

Change the old to a new one. Some old parts not work normally now. Good luck.
