Check Engine Light (How to?)

Hey everyone, I have a 1995 T100 with a check engine light on, how do you check the CEL's yourself? Let me know any info would be great!

You can git code readers fer that. Not sure if you have the late 1995 model or not. If you do, you can use AutoTap or ScanGauge to read the codes. ;)

If it's the early 1995, you'll have to follow the instructions in the FSM (Factory service manual) on the procedure. Maybe someone will chime in once you let us know which one you have... :D

I don't know what hourly service rates are anywhere else, but here it's about $105 an hour on average.
It's annoying that they charge that for a diagnosis when it takes no more than 10 minutes to do.
Good thing a friend of mine is a mechanic and works in the shop on the weekends under the table...

Go to your local Auto-Zone or Shucks..most likely they will be able to read the codes for you for free. Then they will be happy to sell you a new O2 sensor,because thats probably what you need.Your O2 sensor is located in your exaust pipe underneath the engine...About a 10 minute job.

I'm not sure the Canucks have those stores over there... :(;)

1995 toyota t-100' s didn't have that many 02 sensor problems, but they had many mass air flow problems. If it is a code number p0171 system too lean you need a mass air flow meter which is located on the air filter box hose. Most dealerships charge a diagnostic fee, but that fee is in with the repair if u decide to fix it there. The fee is there for the people who chose not to fix it there.
