Back Up Lights?

My back up lights do not work. So my question is; where are the wires for the lights hook into the transmission? I think they might just be unplugged.

Auto or standard? If auto trans, can you see the gearshift selector on the stering colum change from P to D etc...? if not it may be the neutral safety switch. on my '96 4wd it is on pass side of tranny. you can trace the cable to somewhat triangular shaped deal. that's all I can help with, I need one at the moment and it's $130 @ partsbin or $85 for a universal @ Pep Boys (i think) anyone have any more info?

yup that was the first place i went
