Is there a difference in power from the the motor in Japan and the motor being sold in the states? like anti pollution standards.

Yes, JDM engine doesn't come with EGR system and it doesn't even have a port on the head.
JDM engine itself doesn't make more horsepower.
It's the other small stuff (like ECU setup, slightly higher octane gas, etc) that make the difference.
