Crack on ignition piece

My GF and I drove 600 miles yesterday to lake tahoe without a problem. Today when trying to start the truck it would crank over and rev for a second or two and then it died. It does that over and over. Last year some fuel system components were replaced to fix a similiar problem although I don't think that is the same problem.

What I know:
1.96 T100 3.4L V6, no distributor cap/rotor (distributorless ignition maybe?)
2.There is a strong smell of fuel in the exhaust
3.This piece is cracked: (looks like an ignition piece directly mounted to the sparkplug)

Questions: Will this piece work with that big of a crack? What is it called so I can replace it?

The unit is an ignition coil, the engine appears to have one ignition coil each two cylinders.

Test the coil by removing it from the spark plug tube, it should pull out along with a long tube. Once out remove the plug and reconnect to the coil tube, ground the treads of the plug crank engine and check for spark. Only crank for 1-2 seconds.

Does the engine run longer if you press on the gas pedal?

I replaced the coil, but same problem. The engine does not run any longer by pressing on the gas pedal. Last year the truck had some fuel system issues. A relay switch was bad and it was killing the engine, but it would run for awhile then die. CE light is on so now I am waiting for the mechaninc to come scan it. :sosad:

Got the truck running for a bit today. Fuel system seems ok. Pump is running and there is fuel going into the engine (felt it running through the lines right before the fuel rail. While running, GF shut the door and the engine died. Got it going again and shook the while thing, again, the engine died. I noticed that the NEW coil is again cracked and felt very hot to the touch. As I look at the first picture, I can see there is some old fluid spread along the engine cover. Any ideas guys/gals??? My worst fear is a blown head gasket, is this what happens??
