To get the full picture you need to read this http://www.canadiandriver.com/thenews/2008/05/28/ford-and-toyota-tie-in-total-quality-index-study.htm

specifically this line:

The report asks buyers to rate all aspects of the ownership experience, from buying and owning to performance and driving, and is more than just counting problems. “Innovation and thoughtfulness in functionality and design, keeping in mind how the customers will interact and use the vehicle, is essential,” said Dr. Darrel Edwards, founder and CEO of Strategic Vision.

This is just some BS study to make Ford look good. They say their quality is on par with Toyota. When people think of quality they think of relaiblity not the other crap this survey takes into consideration.
