Wow. That's going to be a huge hit on GM's earnings.
Edit: adjusted for selling days, Toyota is down 7.9%

Honda hasn't officially reported yet. But I do know Civic was the top seller of ALL vehicles in the US.
Civic 53299
Corolla 52826
Camry 51291
F-Series 42973
Subaru was up 13%
All time best month for Civic.

Really? Civic is doing better than Corolla huh? I guess so since the Rolla was new for February, so does Civic out sell the Rolla in the U.S. generally?
Damn Ricers!:lol::lol::lol:

If you add the Corolla and the Camry, they are 7,000 units ahead of the Civic and Accord. The Civic barely beat the Corolla, but the Camry totally blew away the Accord.

The Civic has been the top-selling car in Canada for 10 years now, so it consistently outsells the Corolla, at least on an annual basis (the Corolla, I believe, has outsold the Civic some months). I don't know the American sales figures.

The Civic outsells the Corolla in the US too for the most part.

No, not in the last few years at least. The old generation Corolla (in its 6th year) was outselling the much newer Civic even late in 2007. I am sure you can find the data in TN somewhere if you search, and you'll find the Corolla sold more last year than the Civic.

Maytag outsells Whirlpool and Kenmore in month of May!!!!
Oh wait, nevermind, wrong forum, sorry.
But seriously, unless you work for Toyota or a dealer (sales). Why does everyone get so excited about sales volumes? Isn't there better things about cars to get excited about? Like performance, styling, features, etc...???
Personally, I couldn't care less how many Civics Honda sells, Corolla's Toyota sells or how many Malibu's GM sells. I like cars and trucks for what they are, not how many get sold.
Not flaming, just asking...;)

Sales are objective, performance (to a degree), styling, and features are subjective.
You can't argue that GM is losing massive market share, because it's objective, but you can argue that the Sierra is a good looking truck, because it's subjective. I can see why you'd like to avoid the first argument.

Sales #s mean that, on the whole, the population likes the car ... for whatever reason that might be ... everyone is looking for something different in a car. Anyone who likes Toyota should be happy to see their sales numbers go up!
Like fan said, they are facts ... not opinions ... so its a great way to evaluate a company's performance, as well as a which cars are liked by the population.
I don't mean to start a fight, or to put you down Vmax, but why do many of your posts seem to be geared towards Toyota vs. GM, or towards creating an argument between the two fan bases, especially when you know that the majority of this website is Pro-Toyota (being ToyotaNation.com and all)?
Vmax2007 06-04-2008, 04:46 PM Like I said, I wasn't flaming anyone, I was just curious as to why people (outside of the company) are so passionate about sales volumes. I was not ripping Toyota, and was not praising GM.
I am an automotive enthusiast, but since I have no stock in GM or any other auto mfr their sales numbers are not what get me all excited (although I probably do have some Toyota stock in my portfolio since I have a good chunk of my investment portfolio in foreign stocks). I prefer to focus my enthusiasm on the "subjective" things. How many of you posting here praising Toyota's sales numbers or profits have something to gain personally? Or are you just "cheerleading"?
GM has been at the top of global sales for what...70-some years? Yet I have never really given that a second thought and it has NEVER entered into my decision to buy GM products. Yes, I do care about them as an American Company since I am an American, but beyond that, I couldn't care less how many Malibus they sell. As long as they keep making products that I like and can be passionate about, that's all that matters to me. I also never base my opinion on what the "population" likes. I choose what I like based on the vehicle, not it's sales numbers.
To each his own, I was just asking/commenting.

You've got to be kidding me!!! You think getting excited about and rooting for a Toyota Corolla is the same as rooting for a sports team?
Wow, like I said, to each his own.
Sports is called entertainment, that is a non-monetary personal gain.
Too bad in my case, I live in MN and it's shaped the way it is for a very good reason. All of our teams seem to "choke".
I still do not understand getting excited about little econoboxes...of ANY brand. To me it's like getting excited about toasters. Now sport's cars and trucks are another story...although I can see where a truck can also fit into the "appliance" category for some people. I just like big-ass powerful trucks I guess. :D
cwayne 06-04-2008, 06:41 PM Honda deserves a standing ovation for the Civic. The Civic caters to many buyers. Civic has:
economy
sports
hybrid
Corolla only covers economy.
The Corolla also took a huge jump in price. The Civic offers the best value. EVERY Civics has power windows while toyota still sells CRANK WINDOWS... WTF?
Now they bring a new Corolla that's expensive as hell. A "sport" trim corolla, XRS, costs $2,000 MORE than a Civic SI and it gets it's ass whooped.
That's why I do NOT want Toyota to dominate. When a company dominates, they don't feel the need to develop better products.

I think he meant in principle its like rooting for the home team. You like their products and you are a fan sort to say. Probably not saying the Corolla gets them excited. But maybe it does.
I see what you're saying and that's great! I think most of us are enthusiast of not only Toyota but other cars as well. Maybe you just look at it differently, not as a whole, but a certain aspect to your favorite brand. Nothing wrong with that at all. I guess it comes down to we're happy that the company we like is doing well, wouldn't you feel the same with the company you like?? Obviously probably don't loose sleep over it but oh I give up:lol::lol::lol:
Even though I'm not into sports I agree, MN teams suck.:disappoin

I know, you could still have a Corolla with manual windows, manual mirror adjusters and no power locks. A 5 door Yaris hatch has more power options standard than a base Corolla. Plus the Yaris is so much more fun to drive...

Yep, I'd rather get a fully dressed up Yaris S hatchback and it costs the same as a basic Corolla. It won't smoke Civic SIs but it's a hell of a lot more fun to drive... I agree. We don't get the 5dr in the states, it would compete with the Scion xD.
