im going to be looking for a t100 soon. I cant decide on the automatic or the manual with the v6.
Any recommendations? THis will be a daily driver and used to run to Home Depot and Lowes. No offroading in my future that i can see.
Is there a huge difference in MPG?
IM thinking the T100 vs the Tacoma because it is a bit bigger and gets about the same MPG so why not..?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

good luck hunting-took me years to find a t100! . i recommend the 4 over the v6-its more reliable and is not underpowered-i get 20 mpg city driving with ac and auto

seriously? I see them quite often around here. Not very often with the v6 manual but they show up.
either way.....i could go either way as far as the tranny is concerned. I hear they both run forever.
I never see the 4cyl ...always the 6. I might have to go that route just due to lack of avail. around here.

There's a few in minneapolis/st paul on T100 search on craigslist (http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=t100)..."T-100" search on craigslist (http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=%22t-100%22) :D
2WD in an auto would be a good choice. Long bed (8') would be yer only choice in the 4cyl.

i only wanted a long bed -which is why it took so long to find one. i actually use the bed of my truck -the extended cab model is eaiser to come by esp in 4x4 which i also dont want. i see used v6 models with problems with the engine -never any issue with the 4

Your choice between the manual or automatic transmission is really just one of use and personal choice.
Either transmission works well in the T-100, so it really just comes down to what kind of use will it have?
You point out it will be a daily driver, if there’s a lot of stop and go you may want to go with the automatic so you don’t have to be up and down shifting constantly.
On the other hand the manual can give you more power, just when you want it.
As to gas mileage, it really depends on how you drive, if you dawg on any trany it will get low gas mileage, but in general if you drive a stick shift correctly you can get a little bit better gas mileage out of it.
Hope this helps in your choice,

I got a 98 T100. 3.4L 4x4 Manual and I use it for a daily driver, off roading, sand driving, hauling, and other things you can do with a truck. On an average I get about 21 mpg. If I just drive from work to home everyday then I get a little better mileage. Manual is always fun to drive. Umm and if you want the extra power you can always put in a supie. or intake

My 93' Manual V-6 gets around 24 to 25 mpg right now. I only run the A/C on really hot days and drive around 55 to 65 on the highway. I love the truck, and the transmission is fun to drive (except for traffic snarls). I'm not hard on the truck at all, i.e. heavy loads, redlining the rpm's or spinning the tires. I think, either transmission you choose, you will like the T100.
