Sorry for the crappy pics, but just wanted to share with you my excitement. My headlight housing painted glossy black with halos installed. They turn on when I turn on my parking lights!

Do you mean do I get flashed with their high beams? If by that, no, the halos aren't blinding to oncoming traffic at all. The first pic just looks like there's glare, but it's just the pic.

I wired them by tapping into the parking lights. In addition, I took off the high beam plugs so that when I have the stalk position on the dot sign, all that comes on are the halos and the parking lights. It took me roughly 6 to finish the project. I love it! My g/f loves it, my buddy loves it, and my neighbor loves it, too!

So you're driving around with the parking lights on? Becareful, as you might just give the cops a reason to pull you over. :ugh3:

Is it illegal to have parking lights on during the day time???:eek::confused:

P.S. Funny you mentioned about getting pulled over. I just got pulled over on a Saturday night (long story). In the end, I drove away with no ticket. (phew)

I believe "Parking Lights" is for "Parking" only. Hence the term Parking lights.
Once your car is in motion, you'll need to turn off your parking lights.

I didn't know there is a light for parking. lol R they those orange lights on the side?

How does it look with the headlight on? Does it limit the angle of the headlight? And how does it mount? would it vibrate hitting the headlight? Details.. details.. details.... :D

No. The halos don't blink. The parking lights and the turn signal wirings are separate.

Yes. The rear lights do illuminate. Which is why I'm wondering if it's illegal to have the parking lights on. I mean, they act the same way as DRL, right? The more visible you are to other drivers, the better off you are. I was thinking about installing a dedicated toggle switch to turn them on at will, but was having a hard time trying to get the darn wires thru the firewall. Any tips?

You can distinguish the halos from the lo-beam (in my case, HIDs) even from a distant. I mounted the halos such that it "hovers" the chrome rings. I applied small amounts of RTF silicone gel on the back of the rings and pressed it against the chrome rings of the housing. The silicone gel is somewhat of a "flexible" instead of a brittle substance, to absorb any vibration coming from the car frame, without the gel breaking apart. The rings do not diminish the light output of the lo-beams at all.

^ sweet deal now ill just hook up my fogs by tappin into my parking lights :)

also i doubt a cop will pick you out during the day for driving with your parking lights. But DRL's if the cop is very picky i guess he could ticket you for that if your state requires DRL's

Nice Halos!

I do not believe this is true. Most GM cars from 2004-2007 use parking lights as day time running lights. They switched off of that system because the bulbs kept burning out. I see Chevy vans with the parking lights setup as DRLs as well. Here is a picture of the 04 Grand Prix I am talking about.

Hey MCeatalot, any chance you might be able to take some pictures of the halos from a little farther away? Maybe like 1-2 car lengths away? I'm trying to get an idea of how bright they are.

McEatalot and I have the same Halo Rings. This is how they look during the day. I think his will be better contrast since he has black housing and my is chrome.

I'll post some night pics tomorrow. I was out just a while ago and I can tell you right now. these halos are BRIGHT. I'll also try to install a separate switch so I can get my hi-beams back.

2 sets of halos cost me $58.00 +$4.60 shipping. Well worth the money, I'd say.

I'll try to get all the information of the seller and the size of the halos, plus some night shots and quick write-up tonight.

Ok. So I finally got the time to take a pic of what the halos look like in daytime/afternoon. Unfortunately, the pics did not come out as nice as I'd like them to be. Here it is anyway.

As you can see, they are definitely noticeable, much more during night time. Night pics will come SOON.

As for a DIY, the process took me a span of 1 month, from gathering all the items to the final product. For headlight removal and painting, just do a search on these items and you'll find a plethora of information here on TN. As for custom fitting the halos, once I had the headlights apart, I used a dremel to create a little indentation on the bottom part of the chrome ring of the headlight. Refer to the following pics.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee146/bf2renegade/IMG_1354.jpg

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee146/bf2renegade/IMG_1355.jpg

I did this so that the halos will be sitting directly on top of the chrome rings. As for the halos on the parking lights, I just ran the wires through the amber reflector to avoid any cutting/drilling. The wires were not that thick so I was able to run it UNDER the amber reflector, and through a hole. You'll know what I'm talking about when you get to that part.

I used RTF silicone to "glue" the halos onto the chrome rings. I used sticky pads on the 12V converters and laid it resting inside the headlight housing, where it is properly secured. Prior to closing the headlights, I left packets of silica gel inside the housing in case I didn't seal the housing properly.

Wiring is pretty straightforward. I just tapped into the parking light wires. I'm still in the process of using a switch to turn the halos on/off at will, but am having issues figuring out where to run the wires into the firewall.

The halo ring sizes are 75 mm OD. I have the Ebay seller's info if you're interested.

cost for a pair of extra headlights: $50
cost for two pairs of white halo rings: $64
cost for spray paint and all other items: $35
Standing out of the crowd and turning heads: PRICELESS
