TOKYO (AFP)--Toyota Motor Corp. (7203.TO) Tuesday said its joint venture in China with Guangzhou Automobile would invest about $380 million to increase output in response to fast-growing demand.
The venture will install a second production line at its plant in Guangdong to churn out an additional 120,000 Camry sedans a year, raising the venture' annual output to 320,000 vehicles.
Toyota, on course to overtake General Motors Corp. (GM) as the world's top selling automaker, is expanding aggressively in emerging markets to make up for sluggish sales at home and tougher conditions in the U.S.

China's middle class are becoming a real force and are really showing their new purchasing power. They seem to have an interest in large, refined sedans, like Buicks -- both American and Japanese!
