What do you guys and gals think of it? Pretty aerodynamic looking, at least in the "illustration". Plug in for 2010.

I really don't care for the look of it, too futuristic for a 2010 model

Don't worry.....an "illustration" can be changed 10x before we ever see the actual model.

OMG, I really hope the real one looks better than this. And I thought the current one was ugly... :disappoin

Well regardless if you think its ugly or not it will sell, not to say Toyota should make it purposely ugly. The Prius was never meant to look like a conventional car. Its their all hybrid car meaning its not based off an existing car i.e. Camry, Highlander. That's what those cars are for. But the Prius is the halo hybrid car with a sub-brand to follow. I think Toyota is purposely keep it futuristic and stuff like that. If they didn't people would bitch and moan that it looks like its other cars and call it boring. :disappoin:thumbdown Or say there's nothing to distinct this halo hybrid car. To some that's good, to others they want to stand out. But that's why Toyota did that to the Camry and others. If you don't like the Prius but want the hybrid get those cars.

Anyone remember Toyota saying they will develop a hybrid only "Prius" brand of vehicles with entries for most segments? Is it just me, or do I not see it happening anymore.

Well ya, of course it will sell, they can't even make those things fast enough to keep up with demand. But if I were buying a 50+ mpg car I would wish I could go really green without looking so "green".

. But if I were buying a 50+ mpg car I would wish I could go really green without looking so "green".

But that's my point. The Prius is Toyota's halo hybrid so it comes with the territory. It's the "hey look at me I'm futuristic hybrid that saves the earth" or how ever you want to look at it. If you want to be green without looking so green get a Camry hybrid or Highlander. I know they don't net the same as the Prius although I heard the Camry gets close. Toyota will develop a hybrid system for most of their cars. So if you don't want that image then probably get those cars. Or you can get another car from another maker that gets 50 plus. Maybe a VW TDI car.

Not trying to be an ass just pointing that out.:)

^Ya, totally agree with you. :D I just think "car guys" like me would respect the Prius more if it looked a little more BA. But of course those who are actually going to buy a Prius want to stand out and look like they are wonderful for helping the earth. Just look at at all the celebrities buying Priuses.

I think the Corolla's the small car to go with, just cuz it's way cheaper than a Prius and still gets pretty dang impressive milage.

I always expect a very small framed older man with a go-tee and a tiny dog to get out a Prius when I see one. Or maybe two scrawny men and a tiny dog:licklips::boink:

I remember awhile back Toyota specifically said the Prius won't be conventional looking. They're trying to distinct it from the rest of the line up which makes sense as its their glory hybrid. If you want normal get another hybrid.

It just looks like a concept version of the current car, which makes it look better.

Well I didn't think anyone was listening... but I guess Chinese car companies are on this board?

BYD's F3DM uses a lithium-ion battery pack and can run on either gasoline or pure electric power

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=131226#2

SHANGHAI, China — BYD Auto and Chery Automobile both plan to begin building and selling new hybrid sedans later this year in their home market of China. So far, neither company has announced formal plans to enter the U.S. market, although Chery has a supply deal with Chrysler.

The two Chinese companies already have exhibited their hybrids — the BYD F3DM and the Chery A5 Hybrid — at auto shows in China. BYD showed a cutaway version of its larger F6DM hybrid in January at the Detroit auto show.

The Corolla-size F3DM will go on sale later this year, priced from around $14,500, according to the Chinese Web site sina.com. With this car, BYD expects to undercut the price of the Toyota Prius by thousands of dollars. The F3DM, or Dual Mode, is a plug-in hybrid with a proprietary lithium-ion battery pack that can run on either gasoline or pure electric power.

Chery plans to begin selling the A5 Hybrid in October. It displayed an updated version of the car in April at the Beijing show. Unlike the BYD F3DM, Chery's A5 is a mild hybrid, meaning the electric motor only provides an assist to the gasoline engine.

Chery has not specified the start price for the A5 Hybrid, but media speculation in China projects a base sticker of $12,000 to $14,000.

LOL... yeah.. I wanted a Corolla Hybrid, and the chinese company pretty much got it... except it's the 9th gen "Corolla" Look.

can't Toyota sue them for design?
