JSM1284 12-03-2008, 05:30 PM Yea, Your gonna blow it up. BlackCamSe 12-03-2008, 06:06 PM you'll be fine. Toyota wouldn't let it run at that speed if they didn't think the engine could take it 98CamryLE 12-03-2008, 07:04 PM Your vehicle's redline is 6200 RPM. It is theoretically 'safe' to run your car all the way up to that amount. That said, if you constantly rev your engine to the redline and keep it there, you are going to experience increased wear and tear on your engine, and it's more likely that you'll need to replace parts prematurely. Think of it this way- smacking yourself upside the head won't necessarily cause a brain injury, but it's not really good for you either. Do it too often and odds are it will start to hurt. The OP is operating his vehicle in the manufacturers intended range of operation. Lack of maintenance would have a much greater effect than running the vehicle to only 5,000 RPM's. Your response is without merit. You are the DUMB ASZ for posting such a response.:thumbsdow It's guys like you that wreck this forum... aznlunatic206 12-04-2008, 05:48 PM alright, im getting mixed respones's, i intend to floor it to around 4500rpm and let go, but i dont do this every time i drive (im not a reckless driver), probably like once a week or so, other than that i dont go pass 3000rpm on a daily basis. carlo$ 12-04-2008, 06:48 PM i always push mine to the limit (shift down my auto tranny) revs go high and car starts to shake at redline, some kind of protection it has. when i want to pass somebody i just down shift, the rpms go up like crazy and i get a little more power. It won't hurt anything. As I stated previously, you're operating the vehicle within it's limitations.
