Speed Sensor

Ive got a 95 4wd T100 and my speedometer and odometer both went out. I thought this was probably a speed sensor so I took the truck to Autozone for a free diagnostic. They confirmed it was the speed sensor and they gave me a new sensor. I replaced the sensor but it didnt fix the speedometer/odometer. After doing some reading I found out the T100 has at least a couple of speed sensors and Im thinking maybe they gave me the wrong sensor. The error code was P0500 sensor A and the sensor they gave me looks like this:

Is this the right sensor or does anybody have a suggestion on what else could be wrong?

You may want to check the old fashioned speedo cable. It is possible that it broke somewhere between the transmission and the dash. Have you been hearing any clicking, or have the speedo needle bounce when it is cold? Depending if you have a A340E or A340F trans you will have a #2 speed sensor under the speedo cable. This is to help the transmission shift, not run the speedo, as they are mechanical.

Good luck

No I havent heard anything clicking and the needle never bounced. It was working fine when I went to the store but on my way back home I noticed the speedometer and odometer not working anymore.

BTW The T100's use mechanical speedometers and not electric?

Yes...the speedo in the T100 is mechanical. It's probably the cable, the gear in the transmission, or the speedometer itself. Easiest thing to check is the cable.
