I have a 1997 T100. Coming upon 100000 miles. Trying to change the Manual Trans oil. I heard that red line sells (75W90) MT-90 (http://www.redlineoil.com/products_gearlubricants.asp) Synthetic Gear Oil (GL4 rating!) Sounds good! Right! Well I had a Chevy before my Toyota. I changed the M. Trans oil in my S-10 and it took a crap right after! Wrong oil! non-compatible??? Found out the hard way!!!
The question is... Can use this MT-90 (http://www.redlineoil.com/products_gearlubricants.asp) Synthetic Gear Oil in my 1997 Toyota T100??? Please help???

According to my factory service manual...75W90 gear oil...API-4 or API-5 rating. So that should do just fine.
Just make sure you take off the fill plug off first. Don't want to see you drain it before you find out you can't take it off. Seems like who ever did those plugs...put them on super tight. I had to break out the vice grips and a sledge hammer to git my differential plug free... ;)

wait he said transmission fluid, so shouldnt he be using ATF. Isnt there a huge difference between trans fluid and axle oil? Just makin sure we arent reading wrong, lol.

On a manual trans, gear oil goes into the fill/check hole on the side of the trans.
On an auto, ATF (Auto Trans Fuid)goes into the dipstick tube (on most autos that is).
