Hi Everyone,

I have a 1993 T100 that may be on its last year of life! HA!
anyway it has been a GREAT Truck and has almost 300,000 miles on it.

The ignition-lock-cylinder has locked up and I am not certain if the 'socket' that it fits in
has any problems or not. The lock-cylinder is going to cost me $130 at Toyota.

I want to simply remove the ignition and rewire it to start with a switch.

Has anyone done this, or have a suggestion where to research the wiring and what
can and can not be 'by-passed' ?

Thanks for any help or ideas that anyone has!

The switch itself maybe on the steering column under the dash. Get a can of contact cleaner, not carb cleaner and spray inside the lock to clean it out. flush it out, let it dry and get some graphite lock lube for it. Spending $20. is better than $130.

BTW carb cleaner will attack plastic and should not be used!

The key-lock and the actual switch are 2 different parts, connected together, which is bad ? (sounds like the lock part). Changing the switch part is a lot easier than the lock part.
