3.0 with no power

Bought a '94 4x4 auto with the 3.0 (had blown head gaskets).
Replaced the gaskets, had the heads rebuilt (shaved a hair, valve job). Lots of cleaning on the engine. New fuel filter, plugs, wires, distributor cap, air filter etc. Problem I have is the thing is gutless. It will pretty much run at 3K rpm at 65, rarely going into OD and won't climb a hill worth a damn. Am I missing something or is this pretty much what they all are like? Seems like I had more power from my '84 with the 22R...

Yup...that's why they call it the 3.slow... :(

The only other thing I can think of is that I may (only may) have the timing belt off by one tooth on the drivers side cam gear. I'm not sure how much difference that would make and if it was off a tooth wouldn't it be REALLY noticable?

You can check the compression on all the cylinders then...if you've skipped a tooth it should become apparent with the compression numbers. How long has it be running this way? :(

I really don't know how long it has been like this. I couldn't test drive the truck before I bought it as both head gaskets were blown as well as the water pump. Couldn't hardly let it run for a few minutes and it was puking green stuff.
It has been this way since I fixed her. I know when I put the belt back on the marks I made didn't quite line up on the left cam gear but I though if I moved the belt or cam it seemed it would be too far.
I'll give her the squeeze test and see what the number are like. Supposed to be something like 150-175 psi, no?
