T-100 Stuttering when driving

Hi all , I got my self a problem on my T-100 ,4x4 ,Atomatic, SR5, V6, 3.4 , 1995.200,654 miles on the truck and i put 3 thousand of them on itOne day it just started to stuttering after idleing for about 3 minuts.so i changed the spark plugs and put fuel treat meant in it.Napa guy seid the Bosch 4 prong plugs were good so thats what i went withnow it purrs like a kitten at idle but when i take it out on road and gas it it still stuters like sumthing is holding the trucks tail end.worst stutering starts when i am at 57mph and up to 80 after that it like breaks loose and goes better.I think if i were to hook a trailer i wouldent be able to pull it very well,it is like gutless.Also i dont know if it has a conection or not but a few days prior to this happining i had over heated the moter becuase it was a warm day and i forgot to take the cardboard off the front of the radiator. after the temperture geuge went up i stoped and took the card board off.anybody ever have a simeler experiance?any help would be greatly aprectiated.

Any Check Engine Light? Bosch plugs don't work very god in Toyota. You want to stick with the dual-electrode plugs that the engine calls for.

BTW, have you check the plug wires? Are they original wires? When you said overheat the engine, was it actually boiling over or just the gauge reading a little hot?

i wish i had the check ingine light on but its not. Also when i over heated the antifreeze was making bubbly sounds but nothing was boiling over. I just replaced the three wires and maybe it is just me but i think it got just a bit better. But it still stutters. One important thing i forgot to mention is the plugs that were in it before i put the Boch plugs are the expenseve 24.$ each PulsPlugs with only one electrode. I remmember reading somwere on this forum that the one elctrode plugs Burn the coil up. I have a three extra good coils so i will replace them one by one to finde the one that is
sputering.I also read some place that the Bosch Platinum Plugs will melt?
any truth to this?thanks

well i replaced all the coils and there was no difference.I have ordered the right kind of plugs with two electrodes.but i dont think that is the problem.
I switched over as many of the sensors as i could find.with no luck.
Good thing i have another T-100 for parts. Next up tomorrow is checking the fuel pressure and see maybe the fuel line is pluged or somthing.
I am not shure how i am going to do that. maybe i will install a gage in line or somthing. I have replaced the fuel pump and the filter about two thousand miles ago so i kinda dout its that but who knows.:confused:All my knuckles are bloody and dirty today:D Does anybody know if i can scan the problem with some kind of electronice or does that only work if the check ingine light is on?

You can use a system like AutoTap and hook it up to yer OBDII port and scan the performance of yer engine using a laptop. Using the graph mode, you might be able to see what component that might be malfunctioning.

If it is a misfire, it would have set a code, if there is no CEL, then you probably don't have a misfiring problem or at least it didn't last long enough for the ECM to set a code. It is still possible that there are pending codes stored. If the scan tool that you are using is capable of reading live data there is a chance you can see if there is actually a misfire condition.

Thanks for replys i might go ahead and buy the Auto Tap .The reveiws look good for it. Maybe i will hook it up and go out on the highway and see what happens when it begens to stutter and lack power.

Not familiar with Auto Tap, so I am not sure of its capabilities. If available the data you want to look at is the misfire data; the rpm range, the fuel trim readings, etc. In the mean time, you might want to take note of when you notice the concern, the speed, the rpm, the gear range, the temperature, all of those info will help you in narrowing down the cause.

All right i got it to run!!! Just thought i would update the the thread.
When i replaced the spark plug wires i replaced them from another running truck.
and that could have been the problem becuase i beileve that used spark plug wires were not going over plug so tight any more.
so yesterday i got new Blue NGK wires and original new twin elecrode NGK plugs and now it runes like a champ.
i think if you use NGK plugs it is good to have same brand wires so they fit real snug.
it might have also been the Boch platinum plugs i had in there.
