1982 pickup ran perfectly, passed smog last month, never uses oil, or water. Never smokes and never abused.

Today started the truck up and it ran rougher here and there, parked for an hour, started again.

White steam and water coming out the tailpipe. Water is now gone from radiator. Oil is not totally milky, but seemed to have some water in it.

Is the only possible issue a blown head gasket, or cracked head? Or is there another way for water to leak into the combustion areas? Any other thing I should look at?

Just want to know before I tear it apart tomorrow.

Thanks.

Water can leak into combustion area if the intake manifold gasket is letting some coolant to be sucked into the cylinders. There are coolant passages there in between the fuel mixture passages, and it can leak there. Mine did when I installed the gasket incorrectly once (used too much RTV sealant, my mistake).

However, I do not think this would cause the water to get into your oil...

Still, the intake gasket is on your way to the head gasket, i.e. you would have to have the manifold off anyways, so... might as well put a new one in.
