Hello folks,

Just wondered if anyone has a fix for the problem, I need to get my truck smogged and registered by the end of July and it can't be done with the light on.

Any special way to take care of the EGR?
Replace it?
A good source for the part?

Thanks in advance,

Moti

You might be able to take it apart and clean the carbon deposits off the valve shaft with some cleaner. I'm gonna guess it's all gunked up. Be careful spraying solvent on there because if you git it on the rubber diaphram...it's gonna screw it up. You could cycle the shaft by grabbing it with some pliers and see if you can force it up and down to clean off that shaft. Again...be careful that you don't damage that diapharm. ;)

Any ideas on an intermittent code on EGR? Usually my light comes on with the hotter weather on occasion, then will go off, come back on, etc. Doesn't seem to affect how it runs, so I have been ignoring it.

Could be sticking...how many miles do you have on the engine? ;)

217k on a 95. CEL was on this morning, off at lunch. Any way to ungunk/unstick without removal? I am lazy.

Since yer lazy...best thing to do is either take it to a mechanic and have him pull and replace or replace it yerself. You might be able to smack the crap out of it...but not knowing what's really sticking is the problem. It's most likely carbon buildup but you never know... ;)
