I like it but the wife isn't thrilled...then again what does she know.

What color were they?

I've only done 1 so far, this shows the difference of the two. I also want to mention that either way, they needed to be repainted as the original silver was peeling off.

If your wife doesn't like 'em I'll trade you my factory ones with the paint peeling for your newly painted ones!!!

I like the stock style but when mine looked rough I just got new (used) wheels. I still have the stockers for some day when I have time to paint 'em up. I think they look good - sort of a gun metal look.

I think the new paint looks nice with the green. It's nice having stock, but not quite stock. I am going to need to paint my rims on my t100 soon. I just did on my blue pickup and it turned out pretty well. Although, what do I know about color coordination, I want to accent my rims with neon green to match the blue and green on my truck ;)

What did you use for paint? I want to paint my old SR5 style 4 spoke rims. They look so dated on my T100 an I can't afford to upgrade. :(

Rims get expensive :( I just picked up a can of paint from the hardware store. I don't remember the brand, but it was made to go on metal and was textured. My old rims were oxidizing horribly. They look all pretty now. Who knows how long they will last though. Sorry L can't be more specific :(

This is what I want to do to my 1996 4 spoke SR5 wheels. I read that dupicolor came out with a alloy wheel paint that bonds well. I will have to do some digging to find it.

Did you take the rims off the truck and did you take the tires off the rims? I was going to be lazy and just leave them on the truck, but I might take the off the truck. Its will be a pain in the ass though.

I took them off the truck but left the tire mounted to the rim. I made sure to tape it off very well so that I wouldn't have paint all over my tires.

I used a wire cup brush and attached it to my drill to sand down the wheel and get all the old stuff off. Then I used paint thinner to get all of the old paint flakes off.

Next step was a self-etching primer (Duplicolor) and followed it with the Duplicolor Grey Metallic Wheel paint.

I'm on the fence because that paint has a lot of metallic flake in it, so I'm probably going to try another color tonight and see how it turns out. I'll post some pics tonight.

I just left mine on the truck. Was not the easiest place to work on it but it worked out alright. I used a grinder with a wire brush to take off the old finish. I did not use a primer; the paint was made to be applied directly to metal. I think it may have been dupi.

And please pictures of color option two :)

This picture is to show you how bad the rims were before the paint.

I went ahead and painted the 2nd rim the same color as it is really starting to grow on me. Here is how the newly painted passenger side looks.

Here is the non-painted driver's side.

I'm always a big fan of gunmetal, better than black IMO.

And very clean looking T100 you got there

Looks great IMO. How durable is the paint? Is it gonna chip and peel on you in a few months? Did you scuff up the entire rim before painting?
