Ok let me start off by saying that this time yesterday i was sitting in claremont scion signing the papers for a black xb manual trans the car i have been looking for a few weeks. As temecula scion and a few others in that area have told me they were none in socal so i was happy when i called and found out that claremont had one so we headed over there around eight last night to see it and sign the paper for it when we got there it was not able to be found and the sales guy promised it was locked in the service department and they could not let us see it.So we signed the papers in good faith and went home around midnight with the intent of picking it up this morning so my brother mom and me headed over this morning around ten to pick it up only to find they were having a huge sale so i said ok fine no problem we found the sales guy we delt with the previous day and he informed us that it had to be "released" from service by some guy named crazy ray (they said he was the sales manager)but he was not there at the time and we would have to wait so i said fine i could understand the situation so after waiting two hour i got the urge to see if i could atleast see the thing so i headed over to service to see if they would let me see it in the back i figured i owned the thing why not right. So i headed over there and was greeted by some guy(did'nt get his name) and told him the situation to which he laughed at an proceeded to head for the service managers office and the service manager said there had never been a black xb back there so i said are you sure and he said yes so once again i headed to find the sales guy and thats when he dropped the bomb it was out getting wheels and tires put on(some how they the dealer could not do this simple task)and i would have to wait a week or more to get it so i said hell no you said i could get it now i want out of this deal so i proceeded to the finacial guy i delt with last night and he said sure some one dropped the ball and he agreed to let me out of the deal but first let him call around and see if the could not find one on another lot so they could make it right and after another hour of being left in a office he comes in and says "I got great news i can get you a white blue or red one" to which i added how is that great news.SO we signed the papers to void this deal and are now scion less left with a bitter taste in our mouths to this whole scion deal i thought this stuff was'nt supposed to be going on with scions. Now i could see some people seeing this as a one time thing the problem is a women who my mom works with had the exact same thing happen to her she bought a white xb and they told her they had to have it driven up from san diego so they waited two weeks and finally stormed into the dealership and demanded there car to which the dealer said they sold it.Why can these dealers do this and is it a rampent problem how can they sell you a car with a vin number but don't have to actually deliver it to the person who by all right owns it.

i'd call Consumer Affairs and report the dealer for deceptive business practices. And then I'd start using punctuation again.

that's just me, if i were in your shoes. :)

I just read ur story, yeah sounds like bs right from the begining. Trouble is management is aware of this kind of bs but they dont' do anything. heck I bet they even encourage it just to sell cars.

and yes. Please use some additonal commas and periods. my eyes hurt ;)

If you have problems with a dealer call Scion at 866-707-2466 and tell them. If the dealer gets enough complaints he will lose part of his allotment. Sooner or later he will lose his scion bussiness.

You should call Toyota/Scion Regional Management directly and report this. The statutes in place for scion dealerships show stiff penalties to people who screw around with customers.

I know here in Mn. There is this one thing on the news where u can report stuff. Consumer findings or something. Tell your story to the news and have them make a report about it.

Yea Scion/Toyota of Clairemont/Kearny Mesa is huge... it sucks that problem occured though. I remember talking to a guy that works there, his name is Napoleon, and he said they sell about 300 cars a month, so thats rougly 10 cars a day.

Have you tried the Toyota/Scion dealer at Poway?

I agree with most everyone here, this is very screwed up. Dealerships do sell cars everyday that they do not have, BUT the customer is to know about that before ever signing papers. I am a dealer trade driver for Toyota so I know what goes on. Most (okay almost all) dealerships are *sses. You guys have just gotten some REAL sh*tty ones. But it's people like "me" :whatwhat: that go out and drive sometimes 16 hours straight to pick up the exact car that you want and paid for, on time (when we said we would have it to you.) ..... Don't let those dealerships stick it to you, give them exactly what they are handing out, just like this guy, they said they had a car and didn't.. get out of the deal and if they dont let you, report there *asses!!

I bought mine at Toyota of Riverside (CA). I Talked directly to the Fleet Manager and he put me on a waitting list... It took about a month, But he got one just like I wanted.. It got to the dealership at 4:30PM, He called me at 5, I got down there at 5:30 and I drove away in my new car (Which only had 2 miles on it) With in an hour of ariving at the dealership.. I got kick ass APR on it and all the lil extra stuff.. ^ years of free Oil changes and tune ups, Lowjack, scotch guard and GAP insurance, If you would like the name and # of the guy I went to, I'd be glad to give it to you.

For some reason, I call Scion as "sayang" (pronounced "sahyahng") which, in Tagalog (I'm Filipino) means "too bad"

I guess you could start calling it that too.

First, PLEASE use the . and , keys and use some paragraphs!

Second, sorry about your experience. Really sucks. Hope it all gets resolved.

I hope we have all learned a lesson. See, touch, and drive the car you want to buy. We did that with our Subaru because another one we test drove made a funny noise.

Best of luck!

Def. call that number "866-707-2466" Even though you found a dealer to help you out, you should report this one. I'd bet money they never had a BSP on the lot. They were just hoping to get one in an allotment or in a dealer trade or something.

That's totally lame! I bought mine at the state capital and had 0 problems. I looked at Scions in the city and the dealers are less friendly in the city.

my eyes hurt:rolleyes:

anyway, yeah call scion and tell them the situation, then hop on the scion site and look for another dealer. yeah i had to wait a while for my xB but it was worth it, the dealer had all automatics in stock, but it was either wait 2 months for a different color car or get the only five speed coming in in a different color.

Good bye Focus ZX3!!!

Don't even bothering trading-in your vechicle at Claremont Toyota. This dealership practically offers you nothing for your trade-in. I went there last month because I was interested in a new Camry. I have a 99 Corolla LE (89K) with aftermarket wheels, stereo, etc. and we were going over the usual paperwork. They xeroxed my licensed and got my contact info. Then we looked at my trade in the salesperson was impressed with the shape of the body, wheels, the fact that I kept it clean, do visible dings, alarm, etc. He asked for my registration and proof of insurance which he made copies of. We got back to the table and I waited and he came back and told me my car was only worth $800. I was like "I'd practically be giving the car to them at that trade-in price." It got my really upset considering I was hoping to at least get a couple grand for it and if you look at the Sunday paper and look at average prices for that year Corollas and you see what they go for. I told him right away to give me all the paperwork that he xeroxed from me. We didn't even nogotiate pricing for the new Camry that I was interested in. I'm not going to permit this dealership to waste my time. I ended up keeping my Corolla ad a commuter car and ended up purchasing a Camry SE V6 at Longo Toyota. My purchasing experience at Longo was very pleasant. I made an appointment with them and the purchase went okay. I had to give them two rounds of price negotiations (typical back and forth - price haggling). Through it all, I'm now a proud owner of an 06 Camry SE V6 (Phantom Grey). I'd highly recommend Longo Toyota.

That sucks, sorry to hear that. I thought by the title it was SCION that screwed you.. but I guess it's the dealership.
The problem I think people are having is that dealerships are really tied down when it comes to Scion. They can't play with prices or when they get the cars even. So since it's a here it is, take it or leave it, that throws their "sales ability" right out the window. Then they turn to lying.... or telling you something to make the deal and then it blows up in their face. It's rough... I kinda went through the same thing.

I bought my Release Series tC before it was even off the truck... and had to wait 2 weeks just to see what I bought. Luckily, in the end I got what I wanted. But don't let this discourage you from getting a Scion. They are still awesome

First and foremost:
Please make sure you know who screwed you before blaming someone who had nothing to do with it. I hate when people say they were screwed by Scion when a DEALERSHIP made a mistake. I understand you were frusterated but it wasn't Scion's fault.

Sounds to me like you delt with one dealer who doesn't know what they are doing....you should go to ScionLife.com and see what that dealers ratings are from other consumers like yourself.

I also agree with the above said statements. Contact Toyota/Scion customer service and let them know the situation. They do not take complaints lightly. Hopefully this incident hasn't permantantly scarred your View of Scion. Remember, not all dealerships are alike.
