New Exhaust

So last weekend i took my truck on a road trip... over a very very bumpy road and i got a phone call from my brother who was following me saying something had fallen off.... well, there went my right tail pipe. Cracked off right at the muffler.

Anyway, the system on my truck was looking quite awful and im really not surprised. I just got the truck a month ago and haven't a clue what kind of exhaust is on it. I have the paperwork and all it says is "cal dual exhaust system-stage III". Google had not been very helpful in turning up more info on what that may mean :( All i know is it is dual and it looks like the headers and the rest of the exhaust were put on at the same time (2002). It all looks rather bad.

Someone i know recommended replacing it with a flowmaster system. I know i saw one post on here with someone who liked it on their truck. Any other opinions?

Thank you!

I thought of that after I posted. And now it is dark out. No pics until morning :(. I guess they would make figureong out what is on there easier ;)

Here are some pictures of what it looks like now..

The headers (are these ok? or do they need replaced... they dont look great to me but i also know very little about exhaust...)

The tail pipe that is still on....(yikes?)

And the tail pipe that fell off....

I almost find it amusing.... if it didn't mean i was forced to fix it now. I dont really want exhaust gases in the cab with me.....

I called the shop that did the work... no help at all. Aperantly if i was the one who got the work done they had some warranty... and they only keep their records for 3 months so i don't know what all they replaced or what they replaced it with. :(

Alright, so i have done some research.... The exhaust system on my truck was custom made at the shop it was done at. That is all they would tell me. That and they will put a new one on for $500 from the cat back.

The only place that i can find in town that sells custom formed cat backs sells them for $600 without labor. I really wouldn't mind putting the exhaust on myself, i just do not have the tools or knowledge to bend the pipes.

And i am failing to find any cat back systems online that don't require bending :(. So currently i am asking my friends to ask their friends if they can hook me up with some tail pipe bending magic.... i don't really know anyone in that business though.

So i guess, just wondering what other people have done as far as obtaining the dual exhaust system. Anywhere good online that has custom ones? Or have you just bent the tail pipes to fit?

It is a pita getting stuff up here in Alaska sometimes :(

They sell a Bosal cat-back systems at autozone. Bolts on to you cat and should use the factory hangers, if they are still there. Its only a single outlet though. Link (http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/parts/partsProduct.jsp?skuDescription=Bosal+/+Muffler&categoryDisplayName=Exhaust&fromString=&itemIdentifier=662938_0_6064_&productId=662938&sortType=&parentId=61-0&filterByKeyWord=&isSearchByPartNumber=&navValue=16100441&categoryNValue=&fromWhere=&itemId=441-0&displayName=Muffler&store=1149&searchText=&brandName=Bosal)

Also search this forum for exhaust replacement. I think bam did a nice write up on how he did it.

You could learn how to weld or find someone who can weld fer yah. You really need to network up there... ;)

I'd go back to a single exhaust system fer now...there's only a cosmetic value fer going dual exhaust on the T-100. Not sure if yer gonna git raked fer shipping (if they even ship it up there) in Alaska like the rest of the stuff... :(

Did they even hang the system right with the proper supports?

RockAuto has one fer $112 plus shipping...
BOSAL Part # 294725 $111.89

Did you see some decent power return by putting the Bosal on? How does it sound?

I guess it would all depends on how much it would cost plus the amount to ship it up to Alaska...it would have to be cheaper than buying a new one or it wouldn't be worth it... ;)

Well there's two things: cost, and how does it sound? :D I'm looking for that nice rumble; subtle but not overpowering ;-). Costwise, i can get a brand new one just like the one i have (that i like minus the its turned into a rusted pos....) for $500.
