will scion xb get a cruise control

I love scion xb.

but I need a cruise control . will sicon offer it or can I find some aftermarket alternative ?

I bought one on ebay for 240.00. It is made by Toyota specifically for the xb. It took about 2 hours intallation, and that was taking me time. There are only about 6 things to connect and mount and it all looks factory. I don't have pictures, but do a search on ebay and you will find it.

I can't speak for everyone else but I use my cruise alot probly 80% of the time I do alot of highway driving

It's an option now, you could prolly get a retro-fit kit from your dealer, but I'd stay away from eBay for that kinda stuff.

Whoa. I just looked at that link. 33 mpg? Whoa i dont think thats right. How is it that a cube can get more than a camry...

Cause it has 1500CC of displacement

just cuz it's a box doesn't mean it has a crappy drag coefficient. i haven't been able to find an exact number, but i believe it's pretty good. it has not so much to do with the shape as it does with the minor curves of teh body. plus, the bottom is perfectly flat, which relaly really helps. Btw, the old VW bus had the same drag coefficient as the old VW beetle, just goes to show that it's not only the shape that determines it.

Yeah it's a BOX, but it isn't a brick, it was thourghly designed to be efficient, and stylish to boot.

I was originally not impressed with the xB because I did not like the way it looks. But I love it now, even the way it looks, it has defiantly grown on me. Research the xB and you will have a lot more respect for it.

When I bought my Xb the cruise control came with it, it just cost you about 400 more when it comes with it.

Scions are toyotas first of all. And no cruise control? It must be an option. Yes, it is.

Cruise Control is not a Scion option for the xB...however...I think it was Gulf States Toyota or some name like that (they are the sole importer for like 10 or 12 states) saw the need for cruise control and commissioned Rostra to make a Scion xB kit. It is now available to everyone.

Got mine from Brandon Distributing http://www.brandondist.com/rostra_prices.htm for like $185. I think he said about $30 less in quantities of 10.

Haven't installed yet but looks pretty easy...3 or 4 screws to remove a shroud on the steering column...etc...etc. Don't have to worry about the airbag...nowhere close to it.

AAAAAnd I don't see anything about the Xb that compares to the Hummer, unless you buy at least 5 of them for a total of $75,000 and forget to shift to past 2nd gear on the highway.

I paid $15,200 (w/options) and get at least 30 mpg, not to mention a great break in car insurance (considered a wagon) What are the numbers for the Camary? pls someone post them, i'm dying to see them.

the Camry hs excellent resale value, what the heck are u talking about? and our camry (2002 2az-fe auto) gets well over 30 mpg.


no offense to the xB, i personally like it, but u should really watch yourself when talking shit about the camry, over half the board has camry's ;)

I don't have anything against the Camry. I am sure it is a great car in the mid to full-size class. I just don't know why people are posting in a Scion forum within a post about cruise control how much they hate the car and compare it to the Camry, or better yet, a Hummer. It disturbed me a bit. I came onto this website for some real info and insite and got caught up in the childish replies by some people, and ended up doing some of my own. I do apologies. But I still stand behind that egg thing, not singling out the Camary, but all cars in that class.

camry, an egg? i think it looks decently sleek, and very luxurious (though i'm not a fan of teh 05 tails) the xa looks more like an egg than a camry. and last i checked, the camry was teh best-selling car at least in the US. if it was as bad as u're trying to make it, it sure as heck wouldn't be the best selling for the last two yrs, and 8 of the last 9.

or the Honda Element.

Or some of the small SUVs (Escape, RAV4)

the xB is a car, not an SUV, so it shoudn't be compared to an escape or rav4.

the xB is basically a boxed echo.

as for comparing it to a cube, that's not available in teh US. u can compare the bB to a cube, but not the xB, US people have nothing to compare it too.

I actually bought this vehicle in leui of a SMALL suv, like the RAV4 or Ford Escape b/c of the lower sticker price and better gas mileage. I needed to up my storage space from my mit eclipse sypder due to my part time gig of restoring houses. I need to lug a lot of large crap from diff houses. It is, maybe to me only, a small suv for its utility.

I judge an automobile on its function and feel. It functions like a SMALL suv and feels...well sort of like a cross between a Jeep Wrangler and a SMALL suv. You do sit higher up in this thing. Infact, I heard it uses the Prius frame and the echo engine. Both a car I know, but it definitely doesn't feel like a car. It does handle like one though.

Actually, it's reminds me more of a small van.

:) Anyway, more importantly, What do you call the El Camino? remember that thing?

an el camino is a car. everything about it was a car, except the rear was chopped off.

Are you sure that's the one Toyota uses in the Southeast region? It doesn't look very "factory" or OEM to me. :disappoin

I ordered a Scion XB and contaced Rostra.They directed me to a dealer/installer right in my own community. They will install the XB cruise control, parts and labor, for $285. The stealership wanted $600.

So, there you go.
