Some ass broke into my gas tank and broke the lock mechanisim on my outside gas tank cover. I want to replace the lock. They want like 65 bucks for the lock at toyota dealership. Does anyone know where I can get a cheaper one? I would appreciate any assistance.
Cheers ,Mike

First place would be the local salvage yard, probably doesn't even have to be from a T100.
Then maybe an online search, plenty of OEM and aftermarket parts online.

Yer talking about this part (http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_1998_TOYOTA_T100_VCK11L-CRSSKA_6765.html?hl=69058)?

Part number 69058-12170

From ToyotaPartSales.com

6905812170 $63.05 $0.00 $49.28
Body hardware - Fuel door - Lock cylinder
Lock cylinder, t100 1995 - 1998

Got piccies of what got damaged? You can pull the lock out by removing the U-shaped retaining clip. I'd go with the local salvage/parts yards. You could try Craigslist and see if anyone parting out their T100 truck would let that part go fer cheap or not. Did the lock cylinder git damaged? :(

Now check toyotapartznet.com

That site didn't come up with anything... :(

Maybe you meant PartsNet.com (http://www.partsnet.com) instead?

...cause if you did...it pointed to Conicelli Parts Center (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=840&catalogid=0) located at 1200 Ridge Pike Conshohocken, PA 19428. ;)

6905812170 $63.05 $0.00 $47.92 Body hardware - Fuel door - Lock cylinder
Lock cylinder, t100 1995 - 1998

You'd save about $1.30 in the part and $1.24 in shipping...so about $2.54 over ToyotaPartSales.com. ;)

Yea, that's who I meant.
I guess I mixed them with 1sttoyotaparts.com to create a nonexistant company.
Both are Toyota dealers that sell online at a discount.
I use partsnet.com because it's close so shipping is cheaper and quicker.
Plus I know and wheel with the parts guy so somtimes I can get a better deal. ;)

i have a question.....if buying one from a junkyard, would you not haveta have a key from the truck it came off of?? i know mine is unlocked with the key that fits my door and ignition....????????

Yes...you'd have to have it rekeyed to the current key or live with 2 key sets fer yer truck. ;)

Although...you can open the gas door without a key and without destroying the lock or the door... :D
