 That's just great...I smell a deep-pockets lawsuit by some scumbag lawyer out to punish Toyota corporate, the Lexus dealership, and the floor mat manufacturer, but he'll make sure all 40,000,000 people worldwide who ever test drove a Toyota or Lexus will receive their .50 cent check in the mail....:disappoin Or am I just being cynical?....

The stupidity is that the family got a loaner Lexus from a dealer that didn't install the correct floormats. That dealer's days are numbered...
What I find odd is that how many years have people been driving cars (all makes) with floormats that weren't hooked into the floor. It's only been recently that we see these hooks with the floormats.
What a paranoid & litigous society we've become. Toyota's doing the right thing here by ensuring that no one else get's hurt from a poorly placed floormat. My bet is that this is just the beginning of claims from other OEM's to fix theirs...

I'll say! Talk about whacked out priorities in the media. This is a country where an average of 6 kids a day die from drowning, mostly in backyard swimming pools and bathtubs, yet how many in total have died from shifting floor mats? Look at the difference in media coverage...it's crazy.

I wonder if there would have been much less media coverage -- and no recall at all -- if it were just another Joe Public who had died driving a Ford Focus instead of a police officer speeding in a Lexus ES 350.
