Hello friends!
.
I have a '92 extended cab pickup. 3.0, 5spd manual, 4WD.. This
vehicle is stock except for a 3" body lift. I would like your
recommendation on a rear differential limited slip unit. I'd like to keep the
current gearing. Cost is a factor but not so much as drive-ability and reliability.
.
About how the truck is used; I drive it daily on streets and highways but
also use it extensively off-pavement, mostly mud and soft sand.. time to
time I do take it up and down some steep rocky inclines.
.
Thank your for your time and help. Here's my Toy!

If you use the truck as much offroad as you say, I think you'd be better off with a locker than a LSD.
For the difference in cost between an LSD and a basic locker, a locker will give you much more for your $.
Install price for each will be about the same. There's all kinds of lockers, from a good but simple one like the Aussie, to a more hardcore like the full Detroit, to the ultimate like the ARB or e-locker. Do some research on them and see which best fits your wallet and needs. And speaking of $, the Aussie is on the low end of cost and the ARB is on the high end, not including install costs.

I'm pretty sure I need a (selectable) locking differential.. The prices of these (including the Detroit) are within my budget..

If anyone has any first hand experiences or tips to share about specific brands or installation tips (or traps) please join in.

Thanks a bunch!
