Hey guys,

Some of you guys have expressed interest in perhaps participating in a group
buy of rear swaybars for Gen3 Camrys from Whiteline
(http://www.whiteline.com.au). The price is supposed to be in the vicinity
of $200 CDN (** not confirmed yet **). If you are interested please respond
ASAP so that the details can be worked out.

Ratko

when should they arrive by ??

*IF* they come after Sept 1st (when i come back from europe) then count me in...

Jzs147-RR
07-08-2001, 12:26 PM
can i get a gen4 one

Phi
07-08-2001, 08:13 PM
Ratko - Not sure how long it would take. The details haven't been worked out.

CamryRR - Sure. But, it was really geared towards ppl in T.O. to try and save shipping costs. If you do decide to participate and want it shipped to Montreal, I don't think there's any significant savings. However, you cld pick it up from Toronto. We'll keep you updated.

I think they make front sway bars for Gen4 too.

I would come down no problem and if its 200 its cheaper then replacing my bent TRD one .

SpectraBlueCam

We'll probably wait till the guys on Camryman install their's and see what they think of it. As I said before, it would be hard for Dickson to give us an accurate review since he is doing his springs and struts at the same time.

Ratko, I guess it may take till September anyway, so we'll count you in for now?

Ben, how thick is your TRD one compared to the Whiteline Gen4 one?? I say stay with the TRD one.

Phi
07-16-2001, 08:53 AM
Okay guys,

The reviews from CMPL are out. Consensus seems to be that the sway bar does seem to improve handling, installation is a breeze and the price is right. Can I get a response from those that are seriosly interested please so that we can get this grp buy going.

Jzs147-RR
07-16-2001, 12:29 PM
well my sway bar is dead and it has to be replaced i already got a TRD replacement comming in but i hate waiting.Plus i think its cheaper then my TRD one anyways.anyways keep me informed i might not be in TO but i wish i was..

Aiyah!! I backed out of my deal with that Ben guy in the US to support our own group buy, only to have Darryl snap it up. Guy has got to get with the program.

Yes, I'm in for the swaybar. Maybe we can have them shipped to one of the guys in Chicago that we'll be meeting up with, and bring it across the border tax free??

Jzs147-RR
07-16-2001, 07:23 PM
If he want he should come down and we set up a meet and i could help install all this stuff on there cars. From what i hear they are comming down in august so they should take advantage of our poor $$

EKam

$200 CDN is shipping by courier (DHL?).

Ground shipping should make it go down to somewhere near $180 CDN range.

Hmm... I can do a short review of the bar if someone with a Gen3 V6 lowered with Tokicos can let me do a short drive on his car.

Phi, you should make contact with Whiteline and see how many people is needed to do a GB.

SpectraBlueCam
07-16-2001, 11:06 PM
Here's an idea:

Dickson, I'll buy the bar off you and install it on my car. That way, the review of the bar will be more accurate than yours, because you are changing your whole suspension along with it. It will be hard to say how much improvement the swaybar made. What do you think??

EKam
07-16-2001, 11:20 PM
Jeff: With 18"s & suspension, your car is probably way too good to tell the difference with the Whiteline swaybar on. It'll probably true to the fact that handling is so great right now the swaybar will help just a little to its own.

I think I'm more desperate than you are to put the bar on the car man.

SpectraBlueCam
07-17-2001, 05:19 PM
Yeah, the H&R/KYB combo is a good one. I hope the VIS coilovers won't mess it up too much.

One thing for sure though, it will look real good dropped another inch.

But I'll still need the sway bar to keep my chassis from twisting when going hard around corners.

I might be interested. Where will the bars be shipped to and let me know what the final price is and I'll give you a more definite answer.

I contacted Whiteline and they said you could get a deal if you had 10 or more orders.

thanks

Phi

Whiteline has responded to our group buy with the following;

We have a policy of dealing with Car Clubs. That is that we ask for a
minimum order of 10 swaybars per order.

The price for the front (BTF38 - Gen4) and the rear (BTR36 - Gen3) is A$123.63 each.
Freight for 10 swaybar will be about A$700.00.

So here's the math - 10 bars + shipping

FYI Only - Currency Coverter (approx.)
Monday, July 23, 2001
1,783 Australian Dollar = 1,393.28 Canadian Dollar

I've contacted Whiteline again to clear a few things up. Keep ya'll updated. Start saving those pennies

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me

So we are looking at just over $150 CDN shipped per sway bar?

Phi
07-24-2001, 02:18 PM
I'll be honest with you guys. My concern is possibly getting hit with duties and taxes that could potentially inflate the price. If we don't get hit with taxes then we are looking at aprox $145.00 a bar. I was wondering if you guys would be cool with covering any price hikes due to unforseen duties and taxes :???:

Parts List:
BTR36 - '92-'96 (Gen3) Rear Swaybar, $145**
BTF38 - '97-up (Gen4) Front Sway Bar, $145**
BTR39 - '97-up (Gen4) Rear Sway Bar, $145**

Having said that, who is interested? Include your name, item, quantity, email address and **if you are prepared to cover any unforseen tax charges. Once I've got a list of interested parties, I'll send out an email to let ya'll know where you can send the money and then I'll place the order.

Deadline for payment will be Saturday Aug. 11, 2001

PICK-UP ONLY from Toronto is avail. I WILL NOT SHIP to your place of residence. Sorry

One last thing, in order to get the group prices we just need to buy 10 of ANY swaybar (ie,front,back,Gen3,Gen4) and you can expect to wait about a week for the goods to arrive.

If you have any questions feel free to ask here or email me Phi_N@Excite.com

Hey, let's ship it to the Chicagoans and ask them to bring it across. Or, if we are meeting in McChicken, we can take responsibility for them. Rookie, Mao, any thoughts?? I don't think there were any duties/taxes on James when he organized the GB for CM.

Im interested... but a few things i'd like to ask...
a) will those fit on a gen4 i4 also or just for v6?(both front and rear)
b) i still dont have a tower bar, so which combo is better?
1)front/rear sway bars
2)tower bar/rear sway bar
money is #1 concern so i dont think i can have all 3 together.
Thanks for any suggestions

a) Yes it will fit both i4 and V6.
b) I'd say get front+rear swaybars first. You can find the tower bar very cheap at Ebay (http://www.ebay.com) for about $50 USD.

Hi guys i want the front and rear sway bars for my 1997 Camry.I herd they are harder to install then TRD one because they are thicker is this true??And when would i have to pay this money because i could only afford it in two or tree weeks..

r1123flight222
07-25-2001, 09:41 PM
I think we have to have the money ready by Aug 11.
Im in for both the front and the rear swaybars(gen4), so i'll pay $145x2=$290? but what about duties and stuff?
As a matter of fact, when I ordered the TRD bodykit from RMM last year, the invoice that was attached on the box was fake(dunno why RMM made it up), and it says the total value was US$200. However, the invoice that lied inside the box says the total value was US$1485 which was the actual price i paid for. And i remember i paid less than CAD$80 for the tax and stuff. Pretty wierd isnt it? Or did RMM try to make me pay less tax so they made up a fake invoice? I still have both invoices rite now.

Leon

I am the 93camryv6 from cc.com. That would be great if you would pick mine up too.

Oh yeah, now that I have a way to get the bar I'm in if the price doesn't sway (no pun intended) too far from the $145 you had said in earlier posts.

I just need to know who I need to contact about the price.

Oh one last thing if you didn't know by the name I want a rear Gen3.

Sorry to come across as a worry-wart, but so far my 92 (built in Japan in July 91), has a lot of 91 suspension parts on it. Even my rear drums were 91's !

Will I have problems with the rear bar ?
I have not sent a money order to Phi yet either...

Should I pass on this g/b ?

Thanks in advance,
CamryKen

I would still get this if i was you cause its a good buy.You might just have problems getting the bolts loose but that should be the only hard part.As for suspension adding something like that will only help out your old suspension. Why dont you get some suspension stuff too make your car into a good handling car.Just my .2cents

If you guys want we might do a test/tune meet.

We can do the rear swaybar by ourselves, for the front you will need to take it to a shop AND you'll need a new alignment with it.
