Bring on the flaming...

First of all, make fun of me... BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

Hokay. Now that we have that out of our system, I gots me a question. A friend of mine cut his air box on his contour and it sounds quite nice. I've been thinking about doing it to my 4af, but here's my dilema: is the added air gonna mess up the mixture in my carb? Its not worth it if I'm gonna have to tune my carb, just thought it'd be something simple to do to get a bit more roar out of my measily corolla.

Now bring on the ricer flaming. No, I don't want to buy an intake. Yes I do want it just for the noise. Ya, I know my car will still be slow. Punisher, bring it on baby!:D

nah.. you are cool witht hat man.. I used to run my 4AF when it was stock, with out the air box.. just open carb.. no air filter even.. lol. It will make no difference with the fuel mixtures. And yea you get a "deeper" sound from it.. because you don't have the sound dampening of the whole intake tract anymore..s o you get more engine sound out of the intake manifold.

So lemmie get this straight u have to cut int intake leading to the carb. I thought that the stock intake tube kinda acts like a cai? I need to do something with this 4af. This mother is too slow lol..

THEY LOVE ME THEY REALLY REALLY LOVE ME!!!!!!!!!

Next question: where should I cut it? My friend cut his on the bottom... where do you think the best spot would be for ours?

SR5 Rolla. Dog. This ain't gonna make your car faster cause 4af = the slow.

Bah I can still hear the sound of the Contour wide open beside me. BEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!!!!!!!

Believe me I know.Im just doin what i can do until i get a swap. Doesn't FLASMAN have a 4af that kills. I wonder what he has done to his engine...

Heh.. my 4af killed...
Just remove the intake tract.. no need to cut.. Remember that there is this flap there inside the intake tract.. and it is controlled by a vacuum switch on carb.. when engine is cold the flap closes.. stopping fresh air from coming in and the flap directs air from inside the exhaust manifold insulator.. bring in hot air so that the engine warms up quicker.

Ok, I got the tract off. Couple questions. What should I do with the vacuum line - should I take it right off the back of the carb? And do I need to plug the hole on the exhaust heat shield?

When I was in high school a guy in my friends neighborhood cut his air box on his accord and it sounded gay as hell. but I guess if you have a shitty old car from the 80s and don't care about it much then go for it.

by "cutting the airbox" you mean taking the airbox out and replacing it with an intake and filter right?? or is this something new that I may have missed. :disappoin

And flashman's secret weapon... he added an extra hamster to his hamster-driven 4AFE. :D 10+ more HP baby!!!

i'm not following either. are you guys saying that someone completely took off the airbox of a carb-ed engine? aren't you guys worried about all the junk it's gonna suck without any filtration system? i dunno man, i ain't sacrificing my motor just to get a kick ass sound. you want a loud sound, go buy a set of dual side drafts, that's as loud as hell. peace!

Go back to the camry forum if your only input here is going to be insulting "shitty old cars from the 80s" There are plenty of "shitty" 80s Corollas in here that would hand your lumbering family car its ass at the track. :p: :hammer:
