i absolutely love the tC, and at that price, i'm thinking of getting one instead of an mr2, and goin into debt this summer for it:lol:

all depends on teh price of teh supercharger.

I saw it in person, its a departure from Toyotas typical bland styling (hence the Scion namplate I suppose,) I like it a lot. You get quite a bit for your money too, and a clean simple interior like somthing the Germans would pen.

yeah, I like it too. Looks pretty slick if you ask me. Could use body kit maybe. Any outlook on perfomance "upgradeablility"?

Optional TRD supercharger that puts it at around 200HP. Pair that up with a better exhaust and tuning, maybe 220HP. If it sells well, then chances are that guys like Hotshot Performance will step up and put a header together. The car also has a JDM variant so there may be some parts over there, don't know if they use the 2AZ though.

JDM Variant?? I was under the impression that the tC was USDM only, please post the info about this JDM version.

05-06-2004, 05:27 PM
yes, tC is USDM only, however...

it is very similar to an avensis, many call it an avensis coupe.

i think avensis uses teh 2AZ and 1ZZ or something, not sure, and too busy to check the website.

I'm considering trading in my XB for the TC depending on how the car drives...I love my XB especially considering it's a Hot Lava edition, but I miss driving an actual car...We'll see...I have a test drive scheduled the first week of June on a demo model...

I'll pass judgement then...As for now, I like the styling on it...It's simple, but pretty sporty...I agree with the above post though...It could definitely use a body kit...

Scion has also put up a new site on the tC:
http://www.wanttc.com

...It has some good info and pictures. But, I have trouble with some of their markiting stratagy. Seems like they are trying too hard to get young buyers. The new tC TV commercials are cool though.

i need this car in my life..what are the performance specs?

jokelana
05-25-2004, 10:37 AM
the automatic is more powerful than the manual?? and the auto gets better gas mileage?? ...my world has been turned upside down..oh... and the specs.. are on the top..::self proclaimed moron::.. thank you.

JSVH
05-25-2004, 11:02 AM
 where did you get that the automatic is more powerful than the manual?

The Automatic gets better gas mileage because the manual's gear ratios are much sportier (compare 10:1 gear ratio on the auto to 15:1 on the manual). It is only a 1 mpg difference anywho. I would gladly trade that for a much sportier (and faster) tranny.

edit: spelling

I plan on ordering a TC this month. The first thing I going to do to it is put 18s or 19s on it. Does anyone know the bolt pattern?

The more I read about the tC, the more I want one. Clean styling, great price, solid manufacturer, optional mods avail. I wonder if Canada will ever get Scions? :(

^It's not for sale here doesn't mean you can't import one. :D

Anyone know the chassis code?

02RSX90camry
06-11-2004, 06:52 PM
it'll be AZ something, but i'm not sure what they'll call it. SInce it's on the avensis platform, would it retain that code?

Won't be long till a turbo kit comes out. With the help of Turbonetics, Turbo mag already has one installed on their tC. We'll see what the gains are next month when they dyno it.

Damn, I am seriously thinking about it. I can sell the Camry, and use that as a down.

It looks like a sick car, and I would definetly put the supercharger in the car.

The tC looks like one sweet car for a real price.

Bolt pattern is 5x100.

2 questions: i know the car comes with knee air bags standard .. but i hear and see different things about side and curtain air bags .. does it come with side / curtain air bags?

also, what about the MP3 player? the catalog that i looked at has option of single or of 6 CD changer and neither has MP3 player .. does it come with Mp player?

LoopyLady_1

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong...but from what I've read:

1) The side and curtain airbags aren't standard but they ARE an option (per the numerous "build-your-own" websites I've browsed).

2) The factory CD player (per the catalog I'm looking at) "recognizes downloadable MP3 files. And the head unit is set up to act as a satellite radio controller, for those Scion owners who choose to add the accessory receiver and antenna, available from the Scion dealer."

Apparently, the part after "for those Scion owners..." is important. I was browsing a post on here earlier today about someone who was trying to set up the satellite radio and was having trouble with it. He asked for suggestions and someone said, more or less, that it only works with the Scion equipment....so that's something you might want to ask a Scion Rep plenty of questions about.

Hope that helps!

does anyone know if the rims in the above picture is standard on the car .. i am not sure if i like them .. what do you think?

Also, what grade of gas does this car take, anyone knows?

Adam H
06-17-2004, 10:05 AM
Those are the standard 17" rims.

87 octane gas unless you add forced induction.

Hey Switchex, check out this link (just follow it to the Scion models and the tC...then check out page 4). In any case, there are plenty of tC pics, including one for each rim size available.

http://pressroom.toyota.com

Personally, I think I'm liking the 18s....but I think I just read the following and it looks like they might not be available for the tC.....only the 17s and the split 19s. Anyone know for sure?

18-inch alloy wheel and tire package
tC n/a
xA x
xB x
Five-spoke design made especially for TRD by Racing Hart, paired with high-performance Pirelli P Zero tires. Wheels feature wide lip and TRD logo.

19-inch alloy wheel and tire package
tC x
xA n/a
xB n/a
Split, five-spoke design made especially for TRD by Racing Hart, paired with high-performance Pirelli P Zero tires. Wheels feature wide lip and TRD logo

In any case, ENJOY! :p:

The ones shown will be available. They are a separate design than those available for the xA and xB.

Hi. First. sorry if i get the spelling wrong.
I live in Denmark and have an Avensis T25 wagon. with complete TTE styling.
However i´m on the lookout for a nice bodykit for it.
Do you know where i can get that, i´ve been searching the web for about a year now.
Hope you can help
