I like everything except the cover that flips over the radio.

The exterior stying is a huge improvement (in my opinion) over the Xa and Xb.

wow the xa and xb flat out sucked in my opinion :( but this is a HUGE improvement... one complaint: The roof is too... eh... extremeish.... but it's def. 10 times better than the other 2.... one question... specs on the engine?

i, too, am not liking the "garage door" over the head unit...but otherwise not bad. just wish the rear end was more finished...it kinda looks like they were running out of time and finished it quickly...so it just drops off.

engine uses a 2AZ-FE (160 hp, similar torque) it's the same engine used in 4-cyl gen5 camry's.

there will be an optional supercharger (august from what i hear) that will supposedly boost it up to 200 hp

EDIT: forgot to mention that it is a 2.4L 4-cyl

the roof looks like a trimming accident at the barber... im not liking the roof much. it might be cool at night, but during the day time youll have your own personal tanning booth.

Looks like a G35, Camry, and Prius all shoved into one. I kinda like it. I'll decide when I see one on the road.

does it come witha true manual tranny with both engines??

Fresco Bob

^both? the TC only comes with one engine as far as i know, the 2AZ-FE, and yes that ones comes with a manual tranny

Aren't they only going to be like $16k?

i'm glad you guys liked the site and the pics. i really like their pics bec it's big, high quality, and shows you from many different angles. at first when i found the site (www.familycar.com) i was like, damn, this site's gonna suck, but it was pretty well made.

hey 02RSX90camry, you're right when you said they'll have the supercharger to bump hp from 160 to 200...i think i read it in either carand driver or motor trend magazine.

and yeah they'll start around $16K for the manual. it looks pretty sweet. maybe i'll test drive one when it comes out ;)

Looks good.

Any preformance numbers? 0-60 time with a 5-speed?

If the build quality/car in general is up to snuff, it might be a winner.

If the engine doesn't suck like the other two, I think I might look into purchasing it as my new car. I dunno.

0-60 time with the SC on it?

I am hearing in the mid-6 range. If so, thats a lot of slam for the money. But I know the aftermarket will be huge on this car - maybe the engineers left some 'special spots' under the hood knowing good, cheap mods would lead to good, strong sales ;)

I wonder how insurance will be? It is not like a SRT-4 or something that will get crashed every 5 minuites, so it might not be bad. Shit, I can actually AFFORD this car.

I am 19 with clean record, got $997 for 6 months. Dont rember the exact numbers but, A new Camry was $1000 something, a 4 door civic was $1100+, a 2 door civic was $1200+.

Just put down a deposit. Black Cherry Pearl 5-speed. Can't wait.

The rear is short because it is not a coupe, but a hatchback.8 1/2 feet of cargo length with the seats folded.
The glass roof filters out 98% of ultra violet rays and infra red.

Took a test drive in one today (auto). It still feels pretty zippy even with the auto, but I told the salesperson that if I buy one, he'll have to teach me how to drive stick!!

As far as the "garage door" over the head unit, I'd probably just leave it up all the time.

98% UV and IR rays"? Thats some hardcore research bro. anywaiz.. car looks and seems like a great buy. just waiting to test one out. tc is definitely a consideration for me in about a year or two. the supercharger install is a great idea too (if i can shell out the $3000 norm for trd chargers) but just wonderin, if the tc stocks the 2.4 160hp version of the AZ engine family a.k.a. "camry engine", is it possible to transplant the other camry/solora engines? like the 3.0v6 or even the new 3.3 240 hp v6?

Well, it's possible. It would most likely have to be an automatic unless you use one of the older V6's, ie. 1997-2001 1MZ-FE that actually came in manual form. There are ways to trick the automatic ECU so that you could use a manual ... just more work. Space looks tight in the tC too. The 3MZ is 225hp/240lb-ft. I know that the 1MZ used the E153 manual tranny, the same tranny as the MR2 turbo but a different final drive 3.933 vs. ~4.1. The 3MZ/3.3L is a little harder since it has the 5spd shiftable automatic. I dunno what that's compatible with.

So basically, if you have the money, you can have the only V6 tC on the road. Being a Toyota product, there's plenty of parts out there to mess with.

BTW, depending on how the tranny/differential is geared, a S/C'd tC could get a good 6.5-6.8 seconds in the 0-60. If the manual tranny is straight from the Camry 4cyl, it'll be the low 7's.

After I took my test drive, I popped the hood on it. I doubt even a 1MZ-FE would fit. The 2.4 is a pretty cramped setup as-is in that car.

Is the Scion line coming up here in Canada, or is it going to be one of those grave disappointments like the MR2 Spyder. Only the U.S. must be so lucky.

thanks 91MR2quickNA and joel m... but i was not planning on doing such a thing. i was just wondering cuz if thats a possibility, maybe we can look forward to seein a v6 tc on some pages of sport compact car or some other big name tuner mag. cuz i remember sein a 2nd gen mr2 with the relatively big trd supercharged 3mz motor swapped in it.. and it was done by sport compact i believe.

btw... bout the pics... is that brake light a true full-length l.e.d. setup? cuz i was disappointed when i saw a tc stop in front of me one day and only a small portion in the middle of the strip lit up. dint even look like led's. in my opinion, thats a cheap trick toyota shouldn't have done. but maybe its just me.

also... ^^ i meant "supercharged 1mz-fe motor" for the mr2 thing.

Then again... I was just doing some browsing... If you want to see a cramped engine swap, just Google "LEXUS IS430." The Rod Millen guys put a 4.3L V8 from a GS430 into an IS300!!

Umm the top isn't bad at all. It's only really sunny if you have the shades open. But if you want the air on just keep the shades closed. But if you're like me I have my windows rolled down and the moonroof open. ;)

As for the tanning booth comment, not really. Both the front and rear moonroofs have rolling covers to keep you from getting roasted.

What my wife likes a LOT is the fact that the wind deflector keeps her hair from getting trashed from the wind when the top is open. Love it!

As far as the tanning booth comment goes, the sunroof has a shade to pull over for the driver and rear passengers

Yup -- that's what my first paragraph said.
