hey guys, I noticed there are a few shops in the US importing all those cool japanese ae86 after market parts.. is there a shop doing this in TO??

cuz that sure would make things easier.. and if there isn't.. maybe someone should, judging by the number of people (including me) saying "I just got an ae86!" recently..

sorry man, i wish there were..

so far importing stuff for the ae86 is not a very lucritive business, in canada anyways.. here is why
1. most owners are looking for inexpensive stuff
2. their cars are rusting
3. they have other things to spend their $$ on
4. their cars are rusting! hahahaha

so when it comes to dishing out 600$ on side skirts or using that for rear fender body work, it usually goes to one OR the other..or brake master cylinder/;clutch/clutch master cylinder/new gaskets/wheel bearings/suspension...each one of these is a 100$ or higher item... boooo

never both! =(

thanks

good point.. that's too bad toyota didn't pay more attention to the rust resistant abilities of their earlier cars..

I guess the only way is to order from one of those american shops or have a buddy who lives in japan!

hey, guys I found this site, if anyone cares:

http://www.japanese-auto.com/main.html

They're called "Japanese Automotive" and they're in TO .. apparently they import some japanese parts.. there's not too much on their site right now, but I did soem ae86 headers in their 'specials' section..

anybody know anything about this place?

Yes, most of us from Toronto know or have at least, heard about Japanese Automotive. Maybe Yoshio has connections with people from Japan and can get parts from there, but it's not as if he doesn't have enough customers

My future plan for a 20 valve motor depends all on Yoshio. There's probably no one else I can trust for a good finish.

Oh by the way, I heard from people that he charges alot higher than what the competition offers! But as always, you get what you pay for

I think yoshio's prices are high.

if you want to do an ae86 right, do it your self. learn the car, learn it in and out and do the stuff yourself. there's nothing parallel.

If you want jdm parts, let me know and i will get it for you...either at the end of the year or the begining of the new.

goodcookiedrift,

you have contacts? or are you going there yourself?

how are prices in japan? I recently picked up a japanese tuner mag and they have lots of ads for ae86 parts.. I just don't know the conversion rate..

also, how feasible is it to ship things from japan? I take it it would cost a lot, but *too* much?

i'm considering going there next summer.. maybe..

yes i have a contact and yes i am going over there....prolly two times in the next 6 - 8 months.

100 yen is about $1.00 american so its about $1.50 cdn. so if something costs 10,000 yen, its about $150 cdn.

I can ship anywhere. Shipping parts however is expensive without any sort of concesions.

Japan is a great country. the landscape, the technology, the food, the history, the religion and obviously the cars are all so unique. The culture is so different, yet things remain the same as the western world. I have been there once, and i plan to go again....and if everything falls in place, hopefully i'll be living there next year.
