guy says it 100 an hour to look at it, at this point im like ok should be that long
about 12 the guy calls, says he found the problem fixed the wires, but since they were touching metal it shorted out a relay, so he has to order one, 260 piece, wtf shits expensive

anybody else get raped at toyota dealers
Foolish86 08-18-2004, 05:37 PM EVERYBODY gets raped in their tail hole by toyota
Voodoo.Priest 08-18-2004, 07:41 PM They like to try and trick me into ordering the wrong parts sometimes. Or they will be dicks some times and call a part another name just so I will bring it in and have it looked at.
canadiancelica 08-18-2004, 07:49 PM My local dealer treats me like gold. $67.50 CDN/hr..... I get a discount on parts and they do stuff as quickly as possible and always get my car back to me on or before time. I love em and I think they love me ! LOL !
John

Dude NEVER take your car into the dealership. I had an electrical problem with my Cam and I took it to the dealship, 2 weeks later and over $400 later they didn't fix my fucking car and still made me pay the money!!! They wouldn't refund my money or anything. They're liars and lowlifes that make their money by ripping people off!!
in Toronto. Labor rate is 92$ CND/ hr that's all i know.
i went to the dealer like 3 times for first 3 oil change.
and got my drum machined recently for like 100$ something CND. i guess that's not bad. but indeed, some of their service cost a lot, like little things too, parts are expensive too. one like plastic bolt is like 5$ CND + Tax !! lol
Talisman 08-18-2004, 10:43 PM I don't go to the dealer unless there is no other possible way.
Edmond 08-19-2004, 12:46 AM The closest dealership to me is real shady. My rear brake light bulb kept coming on but no rear brake lights were out. I called this dealership and they wanted me to bring the car in for $90 an hour. Said there could be an electrical problem. I said no thanks, I'll take care of it myself.
Call the dealership a few towns over and the service writer asks me, "Did you check the bulb in the third brake light?" I checked and that was it. I ended up spending $2.00 on some bulbs while the local dealership wanted $90 an hour to fix a damn light bulb.
hillbilly 08-19-2004, 01:00 AM never liked dealerships, used to work at one.... they try to rip you off because thats where the dealership gets most of its money.
famous182 08-19-2004, 02:24 AM ive never been raped by toyota. they actually showed me love with free touch up paint and a car wash when they sent me a recall letter for my steering wheel needing to be tighten because they took 15 mins over what they said it would take.
kenratboy 08-19-2004, 03:38 AM I hate my dealer, they rape you (hence I have my own Toyota mechanic, who I trust - you cannot sit down a talk with him (he isn't a chatty person)), and anyone who thinks the dealer can really do stuff a good, dedicated Toyota mechanic cannot, guess again. Ford and Chevy have proven that over an over
In general, dealers are shitty.
sonyminidiscman 08-19-2004, 09:10 AM My mom brings to the dealer all the time........ but I use the car 100% now, so I fix my own problems, and find a shop that lets me do my own oil change for a couple bucks.
MRQtwinturbo 08-19-2004, 09:19 AM OEM knock sensor....i've gone thru 4 of them since owning the car...200 CAD a piece almost.....damn things are so sensitive...but if i do blow this one...*knocks on wood...i will be getting an aftermarket one...they are more reliable and cheaper...go figure....
2wickedtoyz 08-19-2004, 09:20 AM dude i told you that your wires got grounded but you still didn't listen:disappoin when you get there ask to see the work they did and if they can't show you proof go to this website and report them:
http://www.bbb.org/
cause i'm getting tired of these people getting away with shit like this. ask to see the old relay and if they say they threw it out ask to see the new one cause relays don't cost 260.
TheMajesticking 08-19-2004, 09:53 AM Relays really don't cost that much.
I remember when I had my camry. The emblems and everything were all dull and faded. I asked them how much it would cost for replacements. They took like 10 or 15 mins in the back to get all these estimates. He wrote out on a piece of paper $475. What!!! For that plastic bullshit. I never went back.
Sportivo Concepts 08-19-2004, 10:50 AM Never been raped before, but For all my Jacksonville peeps do not go to Toyota at the Avenues, I have had ppl come all the way from there down to me in De Land (2hr drive) cause they rip you a new one and use shitty products when they actually do the work.
I had a customer where I had do a power flush of their engine completely casue of sludge build up in a 01 Tundra, she showed me all the reciepts where she got the oil changed from them every 3,500 miles, but if you looked at the engine you would have sworn that the oil was never changed.
For my Volusia County/Central Fl ppl if you want a Reliable and honest dealership, thats actually cares about you go to De Land Toyota and for Service ask for Rich, for Parts Charlie, Adam, Matt or Steve and sales ask for Jeff or Tom and tell'em Will sent you. Very good ppl over there, when I'm too lazy to do anything with the car I drop it off to them and know its in good hands.

I told your lazy ass if you brung it to me or we meet up I could have looked at it... would have saved you a heap load of trouble and money
900 for me for front axle and engine mounts
93V65spdcamry 08-19-2004, 11:59 AM Definately dealerships are a pain in the ass. My camry only ever goes in for MAJOR problems, which, knock on wood, is why it has never seen a dealership since her warranty days. But i guess that is 1 advantage to bringing it in instead of doing it yourself, warranty and someone else to yell at other than yourself
jhbhatia 08-19-2004, 01:25 PM I always take mine to dealerships. But for an electrical problem, i would have taken it elsewhere first!

I would have be out of there as soon as he said $100/hr!
Tommy 08-19-2004, 09:29 PM I went looking with a friend for some mud flaps for his 86 Mr2.
Go to the dealership, ask the guy, 5 min later he comes back and says $80. we were like wow thats alot for mudflaps. He says correct that "MUDFLAP"
$80 for one mudflap!
and they had to order them, and they didnt come painted! so it would take a long ass time + whatever painting them would cost!
Junkyard on the other hand wanted $10 for all 4, in really good shape, already painted the right color.
2k4CamThrilla 08-19-2004, 09:54 PM labor cost me less than 50 bux at my toyo dealer...i'm glad my friend knows shit about cars, i ask him before i go, if i have a problem.
Toysrme 08-28-2004, 09:00 PM In Alabama, if you don't pay, they have the right to keep you car until an agreement is made. To get around the dealer crap pull out your cell phone, call the police and tell them they have done no work and have now stolen your car, refusing to give it back.
The cops have to come and the dealer people get very, very upset; take my word for it. Scream and yell it too.
Just be careful of the wording and such, ya want the operator you're talking to to know it's not an emergancy, cause she has to send the cop either way.
FYI This also works wonders at any store that doesn't refund cash...
hachi-rocu 08-28-2004, 09:31 PM Im not sure about where you go to but the dealership i work at charges $ 76.00 an hour for labour not $ 100.00.
Maybe the smaller town dealers charge less.
Snip3r 08-28-2004, 09:47 PM Wow....I thought I was the only one having troubles at my dealer.........we should send this post to Toyota HQ let them know we are pissed!!
my dealer charges $80 an hour/cdn.
xmikeyx 08-28-2004, 11:54 PM Nissan isn't so great either. My brother's Nissan Sentra needed a new radio antenna because the old one broke. The dealer charged almost $40 for the pole type antenna. Then just out of curiosity, we asked if they would charge us if they simply twisted it on. They wanted $90 US to twist a metal pole in place.

You see - that's exactly the point. Not all dealerships are the same. Not all service reps at a dealership are the same. Find a dealer and service rep that you're comfortable with and trust. Stay with them and develop a rapport. Otherwise move on to another dealer.
ronerwin 09-11-2004, 12:41 PM Looks like a nice party.. knock sensor, oxygen sensor.. burns out regularly.. good sucker repair for dealers.. I've been thinking of a 92-97 honda accord and I got this 91 tercel for a song.. it runs prtty well.. with a few bugs here and there..
amerikim 09-14-2004, 09:56 PM Only in a Toyota dealership do you pay $100 @ hour to get sexed.
Oops, forgot medical centers, banks, colleges, any Govt agency....
Wonder if there will be a day when nobody can afford to live here?
GreedyGreg 09-29-2004, 05:03 PM the sucks glade i got a friend that worked for toyota he does all my work and that goes for my honda to that sucked that you got raped......:(

DrewsCam 09-29-2004, 06:10 PM yo delete 2 of those 3 posts
dna59 10-03-2004, 04:21 PM Damn that sux the way how dealers rape ya, but I guess they gotta make their money.
DRaKeN 10-18-2004, 01:40 PM Okay its no better overseas here in Australia either people...
Incident number 1: Went to yota dealer to get gaskets for both manifolds, was told that they would cost $47...each!!! COUGH CHOKE HACK Went to the auto parts store ACROSS THE ROAD and paid $15 for the both of them.....
Incident number 2: Same dealer (why I went back but meh *shrugs*) was after some coolant...the sales dick thumped a 5 litre bottle on the bench and said "here we are, that'll be $75" Get farked!! Went back across the road and paid i$12 for some additive and distilled water...
Incident number 3: Went back (this time for amusements sake) and asked for some nuts and bolts that had gone missing from my exhaust and manifold. Was told that they would cost $6 each and would have to be ordered...I drove across 8 suburbs until I found a store I know and paid $5 for the lot, plus a heap of washers thrown in...
Moral of the stories? Tell the dealers where to shove it (unless you have warranty still) and do things yourself or at least get someone else to do it! No toyota has ever laid a finger on my car since I bought it, and the previous owner (my mate) didnt either.
Cheers
DRaKeN
