Shut-up About The Supra - vent

Why is it that as soon as people see a car from toyota that has alot of power it is instantly called the supra. If it has no name dont call it a damn supra, the supra probably isnt coming back but that doesnt mean that they will not release another performance car. So if you are having the urge to call a car a supra which you either 1. have no idea what its called or 2. are just plain stupid...shut up and keep your stupid idea to your self.

Sorry this is just bugging me.

yea but i mean. i think to most people a supra sticks to their head. Its so legendary everyone wants it to come back but it won't same like those Hemi's in the new dodges they claim Hemi but its not even close to one.

I guess most people are just airhead supra crazy lovers.

The Supra is and always will be the powerhouse of Toyota's...

With excellent and super suave styling, and the 2JZ-GTE + RWD to boot, you just can't beat it with much.

It's because of those simple facts that everyone loves it, and everyone knows what it is..

So much so that they even featured it in F&F...kind of proves your point...

I'm so glad I'm not the only one in this boat, I think that has to be one of my biggest pet peeves about cars... besides street racing, and stupid ppl who think they know what they are talking about and is full of bs (ie the rolla driver with his Cvic Si type-r conversionand turbo with the spooling drizzle).

yes I understand that the Supra was a great car, and simply one of the best, but it has died and we need to move on and stop calling ever car that looks or is powerful a Supra, its dead and get over it!

it's kinda the same idea as the people who still think elvis is alive. both the supra and elvis were the king, both are the best in ther field even many years later, and both died way too early.

i'm afriad that if toyota tried to bring back the supra, they'd mess it up by 1. not putting in an I6 2. not offering a turbo version. but if any toyota executives wanna bring out a 400 bhp sports car, by no means let me stop you. :D

People need to kill their dreams of a Supra. Yeah it was a nice car, looked cool. But to tell you the truth, it never blew my mind. There are tons of cars better than it. And there are lots that are able to put down the power. Less work, less money. The Supra was a hastle. And it wasn't that great.

People need to give up. They can't revive the Supra. It would be just as dumb as bringing back the GTO. Cause you see so many of those on the road

Yea i'm waiting for Toyota's version of the STI or the EVO. 4drs are the way to go now in today's world. Oh i forgot about the whole F&F thing. That made the supra and Skyline extremely extremely popular and also the Rx-7 but not as much not sure why. Also famoused the Blitz kit on the clipse's

We will always have the Supra imprinted in our minds.

Unless it's an I6 RWD sport coupe, it ain't a Supra.

Even before F&F I always thought that the Supra kicked ass...as well as the RX-7...If i had a choice though between a supra and a 3rd gen rx-7..I'd choose the mazda....sorry guys.....

Some people have confused my 89 corolla GTS with an older model supra......

my bro's stock SC out ran my friend's stock 93 NA...

the TRUE 2JZ car will always be the SC300...'cause it was the first to feature the engine.:D

but of course, im helping my friend turbo/fix up his Supra...

maybe then will my perception change..:)

It did not impress you??? and did not blow your mind?? It is ofcourse your own opinion, but know a little about the facts first. None of the so-called better cars you are mentioning have a 3 liter engine block that can generate up to 1100 HP without any significant changes to the motor.

MKIII Supra's are cool, but the MKIV's are kinda femmy, all the curves and... it just looks like a chicks car, it isnt as agressive as everyone makes them out to be, sure they are cool... but you cant have a supra be a sleeper, sleepers are the way to go :P who the hell expects like, a Camry or something, to eat a Camaro or otherwise? With a Supra, you are just making something The looks fast and is fast, faster... with a Camry you are making a car that looks slow, is known to not be much a sporty car, into a powerhouse capable of great things... (Hopefully due to Sportivo making kick ass parts ;))

It's been a while, but I still thought I should respond :)

One thing is potential of an engine isn't eveything. Yeah, for drag I rather have a 5.0L V8. But then again, those have the potentail to put down over 1000hp. But unlike the Supra, muscle cars don't need a Turbo to put down power. There are a lot of N/A cars that are up in the 900hp range. Whens the last time you saw a Supra N/A pushing that?

The Supra didn't blow my mind cause it wasn't that great of overall car. It wasn't built for drag. It wasn't amazing in rally. Maybe road courses. But otherwise it was nothing special. I'm more about handling then I am pointless amounts of power. And if I had the choice between a Supra and a Subaru SVX, I'd take the SVX.

not a fan of the SVX... hear they have a good number of problems... i'd take an 05 legacy though, those are nice...

The Supra isn't going to return. The name ended on a high note (Sadly not high sales) and Toyota plans on keeping it that way. They don't plan on releasing any new performance cars under the Toyota name anytime soon.

Their current focus is on their new performance division of Lexus. They are going for the AMG style. Right now they are working on a number of AWD Hybrid models all putting down over 400hp.

I'm still waiting to hear more on what they have started production on :)

Maybe they don't plan to make any performance cars under the toyota brand anytime soon, but if you look at the American big 3, they are all offering models with an option for lots of horsepower. If they offer 400hp Lexus's then 300hp Toyota's don't sound so crazy. Especially if you can get it from all the Americans and the Germans.

I don't know... Probably because the supra was the best performance car that toyota had put out back in the day. and people think that toyota will still call it a supra, but i agree with you. know what it is before you say something false, no offense to anyone.

Yes, but the 400hp Lexus will cost over $80k. This is AMG style bro, no cheap shit. These will range from $80k - $200k. This is stuff rappers will be buying. Not your every day joe.

And if you look at the American big 3, they are all behind Toyota. And the fact that they offer a high power car doesn't in anyway mean that it is the reason that they have high sales. So the comparison is pretty much invalid.

If you look at what Toyota advertises, it's not the power of their cars, it's the fuel economy and reliabilty. They aren't worried about power. That's why the V6 Camry has only gained 35hp in the past 12 years ( 3vz 185hp, 3mz 220hp). Power doesn't sell, quality does.

And to top it off... When was the last time you baught a brand new performance car?

Toyota doesn't make money off used ;)
