I just purchased a Scion XB and im having one little issue. Upon starting up my car the blue low coolant light comes on for about a minute and then goes away. Is this normal on all Scion XB upon startup?. I checked the coolant and it is fine and the dealership saids its normal. I just wanted to know if this is what all Scion XB's did when u started up the car.

Yeah it's normal. THe xb and xa don't have a temperature gauge. They use the cold and hot indicators. Make sure not to drive the car hard or floor it until the light has gone away.

Totally normal, it's just telling you that the engine is cold, when it warms up that light goes off.

That little light freaked me out at first too. The salesman was no help either. Don't be concerned until its little red brother shows up ! DOH

Yep! I got freaked out too when I first saw it. I even pulled over to look for the owner's manual but left it at home. Then after another minute of thought it dawned on me. I will, however, pull over when its "brother" shows up.

Normal to stay lit for a little while. I had an Avalon and it did the same thing.

Not to worry. They all do it. Even my sister's 2000 Camry (no light) will stay in first gear in cold temperatures if you don't let it warm up about a minute.

Instead of sitting in the driveway letting the xB idle until the blue light to go off, it's better to just go ahead and drive it (gently!) until it warms up.
