The high beams on my 1988 pickup will not come on when selected. I can pull back on the lever and they work as long as you hold it back. I removed one of the (new) bulbs and inserted a test light and the test light comes on. I am grounding the test light on the headlight bucket. Has anyone had a problem like this or know what could be the problem? Thanks

There is a headlight dimmer switch located in the steering column. There is a differnet set of contacts for flash (holding the lever back) and high beams. Send me a PM with an email address and I can send you a pic of the pin-out for the connector. Basically, terminals 5,12,13 are shorted on flash and only 5,13 are shorted on high beams. Terminals 6,13 are short for low beams.
