1992 Land Cruiser stereo removal???mandalay11 10-27-2004, 11:13 PM xx cam2Xrunner 10-28-2004, 03:22 AM http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/4/web/316000-316999/316575_14_full.jpg I would guess that the first step would be to pull out the ashtray. Then look to see if there are any screws holding the trim to the dash. If not then pull on the frame of the ashtray and it should pop out. Then pop out the left side and the top parts. I'm not too familiar with landcruiser dashes but most toyota's are built this way. You'll then have to disconnect the electrical connections to the ciggarette lighter and whatever else is connected to that trim piece. You might have to remove the panel under the cd player/climate controls. After you get the trim peice off there will be four screws. They're probably 10mm hex and/or phillips. After you take those screw out there will be four screw holding the cd player in the brackets. Take off the brackets and disconnect the plugs on the back of the cd player. Does your door look like this one? http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/12/web/600000-600999/600927_7_full.jpg On the sounddomain site it says you have 6 1/2" in the doors and a 4" speaker in the dash. I would get a set of CDT 3 way component speakers for the front. A 4 inch midrange in the dash with the tweeters on the dash or in the a pillar. And the 6 1/2 in the doors. Two channels to the mids and highs and two channels to the 6 1/2" midbass's. If going this route then you'll prob. need an eq too. If you don't want to run a three way setup then a good choice would be the Image Dynamics Chameleons in the 6 1/2" opening. You might have to make an MDF spacer to push them out more. I heard there's not too much mounting depth. For the subs look into the Image Dynamics IDQ10's or the ID8's. Also the arc audio subs are the same as the IDQ's but better features. They work perfectly with 1/2 cb ft of airspace. And don't require too much power. The JBL GTO series amps are a pretty good budget amps. mandalay11 10-28-2004, 10:29 AM xx | |
