Well hello there Mr. Supra. Maybe a reason not to abandon all hope for Toyota.

If a repost: TN -> :slap: <- Me

It contradicts another post that said that is some $100k V10 supercar. I bet a sub $30k Toyota sports car would do well.

Wanna know why Toyota's bringing back a high performance sports coupe for 2007? Nissan is bringing the Skyline GT-R over that same year. Expect to see some stiff competition. Don't be surprised if it's called the "Supra." The name is synonymous with Toyota's performance as is the Skyline GT-R is for Nissan.

That would be wicked cool. And in 3 years from now, I might actually have the money for a cool car like that, or actually I would wait a model year or so (they could NOT afford to sell them for 1 or 2 years only) and I will be out of college.

Did I mention KICK ASS!!!

UPDATE:

Link: (http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=216651)

I read the WHOLE thing and it looks pretty good. I honestly think is going to be real.

There are two issues:

-Possibility of a supercar, $100,000 and a V10 with 500HP. Who knows
-Realistically, two trim levels. Base with either a V6 or V8 for about $30-40k and a GT with a forced induction V6 or V8 from $40-50k

Reguardless, some semi-founded statements from established and trusted members saying this thing is in LA being tested and driven by members. Their silence adds to the authenticity because that would cost you your job or even legal actions.

Question
Is Toyota planning on bringing back the Supra in the future?

Answer
At this time, Toyota has no plans to bring back the Supra. We are however, constantly researching the market to identify popular vehicles.

So, they didn't rule it out completely. They're spying on our message boards ...

Toyota has been using strange language that would suggest SOMETHING is in the works.

Hell, if the GT-R makes it over here (99% certain, confirmed by Nissan to be a N. America car), I will be happy.

It isn't a Supra unless it's I6 RWD.

It isn't a Supra if the top end model isn't faster than 5.1 seconds from the factory. The 2JZ is getting phased out; in fact, after the 2006 Lexus models arrive, it'll be no more. TRD tuned the 4.3L Lexus V8 to put out over 500hp @ 8,000rpm ... N/A. The new 3.5L should be able to push 350hp or more when pushed to the limit. I'm betting that the 3.5L will power the car in the spy photos, whatever it might be called.

The Supra has ALWAYS been an I6, ever since the 2000GT back in '65. I never said anything about the 2JZ, just an I6. The Supra is an I6 RWD Coupe, simple as that. Sure it'll be a sweet car if it had a V8, but it will be no Supra.

Sheesh!

99.999% positives:

a) It will be called "Supra".

b) 2 models will be offered, base and GT version.

c) Base = $30K-ish and will smoke a 350Z.

d) GT = $50K-ish and will use a V8.

e) It will be sexy, and worthy of the name Supra.

f) When he sends me pictures (yes, real photos of the CA mystery car) you know I will piss off Toyota by posting them here.

Maybes (rumors from TRD):

a) F1 paddle shifters.

b) Boost? He mentioned the words "turbo" and "blower'.

c) May see it as a 2006 model offering.

Interesting TRD info:

a) They have stroker 4.7L V8 Tundra race engines on the shelf that now are like 5.4L and make 600hp N/A. They are for sale. MKV Supra swap?

b) The Scion tC Vortech blower kit has an optional water-air intercooler for 220+fwhp. $3K suggested price.

c) The "Volta" may be a reality, but only in Europe as a $100K offering.

^^

All this quoted from that supra site. Had to read alot to get there.

Man, but $50k. Ouch...

Thats a HUGE HUGE dent in the wallet. I would settle for the $30k base model, but .... Hmm... I want the best...

Man, finally the US are getting some of the good action from Japan. We got the WRX STi, 350z, Lancer Evo 8, and now all we have to do is wait for the upcoming Toyota and Skyline GT-R couple years from now. Then, we'll be cruising baby.

I think they said that is what they WANTED it to look like. As of yet, that person has not posted spy shots.

Also, once I see C&D, Edmunds, etc. talking about it, I will start to get interested.

no, they said that the spy pics that we thought was teh surpa at nurgburing (the covered car, the same pic that's on edmunds) is in fact teh Noble M14.

Hmm, the Noble M14 is RHD, the car in the spy pic is LHD. Interesting ...

Okay, it's not an M14. All you gotta do is compare the production version of the M14 to the spy shots and they're totally different. Besides, why camouflage a car that's already been revealed at an auto show?

completly agree. if people weren't willing to spend 20k-29k on a sports car then how are they going to sell some for 100k? they need to start thinking just a little. there are more buyers for 30k vehicles than 100k vhehicles that i see anyway. how many celebs and collectors are there compared to the average enthusist?
