Swift2fly 11-09-2004, 02:41 PM hey guys wassup.. gotta give props to Toyota for coming out with the SCION TC. i like that car a lot for its class. i like the other scions too but i like the TC more.
anyways, i do not drive a TC or any scion...i will leave my car anonymous cause i am not here to start a war.
but everytime i encounter a scion TC i pull up next to the owner to give him a thumbs up or even tell them, "hey, nice cars" but i get no looks back and they just take off on me and they continue to speed away. now this happened with all the scion TCs taht i ran into. but i only met one down to earth driver at a car meet..and he knows where that car stands next to mine.
so, why are most scion TC drivers soo cocky? do you guys realize the TC is a nice car but not the quickest out there? hands down my car will take a TC easy....even when my car was in stock form i would take a TC easy. bottom line your cars do not compare to mine but the drivers i encountered seem like i am a threat or trying to race..i just want to give props and i am encouraging my little bro to get a scion TC as his first car.
sorry for the long post. but jsut know i like your cars but know where you stand and don't be soo cocky. but if i have to i'll shut out all those cocky drivers. by the waaay if you think that i am a neon SRT-4...sorry i love imports. enjoy
Camryfanatic 11-09-2004, 02:55 PM Its the new Toyota Celica in disguise. The last year of the Celicas are going to be based on the Tc's body and chasis.
Swift2fly 11-09-2004, 03:33 PM doesn't mean that it should get to their heads. Scion TC or celica is not touching my car at all. and it's a known fact even by TC drivers.
TrafficInLA 11-09-2004, 05:50 PM I tried to wave to other Scion owners but alot of times they don't see me. It becomes too much of an effort to keep up. It's easier to meet tC owners at Scion meets than on the road randomly. It can be a bit dangerous too if you distract them when they're getting used to the car.
Scion meets are the best place to meet owners and their cars.

Are you sure? Because the tC is on the Avensis chassis while the Celica has it's own chassis. The Celica will be discontinued here in the US but not in Japan. Maybe the new Celica in Japan will use the tC chassis, but that's Japan, not here in the US.
tCshamgar 11-11-2004, 08:00 PM I've driven a couple diff. types of vehicles (Jeep, IntegraGSR, Expedition...) and you get ignored more in some vehicles than others. I know that sounds wierd, but it makes sense. If you drive a yellow jeep wrangler like i did, You get some heads turned your way. As for ppl not looking at you. When i drove my brother's Integra, I got all sorts of challenges, and attitudes from everything from other imports to Rednek Chevy and Ford drivers who wanted to prove something. I say, just have fun and shrug it off. Leave the boring and stuck-up to thier own miserable lives.

Honestly, I think alot of tC owners dont even know how good their car is. I think most of the people buy the tC because it is a good "economy car." They dont think the tC is anything special, a better value then the civic in consumer reports. When you wave at them and give them the thumbs up they think its because you are trying to screw with them, hit on them, or something. They probably dont want to talk cars. They just want to drive to work.
I, on the other hand, worship my car. Most of the miles I have put on my car so far are from me cruising around for no reason other than I enjoy driving it so much. I love talking to the people that complement my car.
You have not meet the right tC drivers yet is all. ;) :)
eeyoredragon 11-14-2004, 08:38 PM It annoys me that someone would even spend a moment contemplating the idea that a certain car's owners are assholes. I can't begin to conceive of what must have been going through your head when you wrote that post or what kind of response you were thinking you'd get.
.tony. .riot. 11-14-2004, 10:13 PM I'm curious as hell to know what car you have.
I don't mean it in a bad way or to flame you or anything, just plain curiosity.
CamNub 11-14-2004, 11:00 PM I think its a civic.
02RSX90camry 11-15-2004, 11:05 AM i think it's an rsx or wrx.
2AZ-FE 11-15-2004, 01:00 PM Hey all,
I don't know who you have been meeting on the streets, but they sound like they are unfriendly. Not all Scion tC owners are that way. I love cars and like to talk to all people about their vehicle. Where is it that you live? Also, I don't know where you get off talking about your car being able to beat all of the tC's, but I am just wondering what percentage of people on this Scion forum give a crap if you can or cannot beat a tC. That is nice for you if you can beat a tC, but in most cases, that is not a hard feat. They are not that fast compared to most cars out there. They are not bad, but they are not fast by any means. What are you trying to start here? If you want to talk specs, we can, but you need to let us know what you drive to do that??? Confused as to what your point was.
DrnKnMnky 11-15-2004, 07:28 PM Swift2fly wanna race??? I will soon be a Scion XB owner but untill I have my current car I will race u anytime... :D
CamNub 11-15-2004, 09:24 PM I'll bet you are a v6. Any v6 can beat a scion. It only has 166 hp.
DrewsCam 11-18-2004, 10:30 AM i dont think it matters wat car u pull
some people are just a. dicks or b. dont care
i tried to talk to a kid in a rsx, i rolled my window down in the cold and all he did was look straight, so in conclusion its not like tc owners are snoobs its just how people are
toyota_tech_01 11-27-2004, 08:51 PM CamNub I drive a all stock 99 Civic Si which I bought new ............ no offence to anyone but honestky its the best all around car I have ever owned
2AZ-FE 11-29-2004, 09:23 AM Toyota Tech,
If the Civic is the best all around car that you have ever owned, then I feel sorry for you. The Civic that I owned was not the best car I have ever owned at all. The Scion is much quieter and has a much better feel than my Civic ever did. Bottom line, you much of owned some piles if the Civic has been your best car to date. Sorry, but I don't see how the Civic can legitimately have this title.
ScionicXTC 11-30-2004, 07:36 PM maybe they thought you were trying to race & knew they'd lose, or are still in the break-in period, don't like street racing, or something... who knows...
Tommy Tran 12-09-2004, 07:11 PM Toyota Tech,

There are a lot of critieria that can be used to determine which car is "best" and just cause a magazine says its better doesnt make it better to me... true the Tc is buckets quieter than a civic(cept maybe the hybrid but...) but lets compare shifters and shifting feel... I would take a civic shifter over a Tc 5spd ANYday!
Everyone has different experiences with the cars they own 50million Toyota owners cant be wrong right? Or how about the 50 million Honda owners? Funny the ones who make the most noise are the ones who had problems with their cars both Toyota and Honda owners... and lets not even start on the domestic and korean car owners!
If Toyota Tech's car is a 99-00 Si then lets see where the value of your Tc is in 5 years. Hard to compare that way isnt it considering how much cash a straight, clean Si of that year is pulling. Not saying your Tc wont be worth a lot in 5 years but I doubt it'll hold its value like the Si... just another way of looking at it...
Peace
toyota_tech_01 12-09-2004, 08:14 PM Thanks for the reply Tommy.
As you said everyone has thier idea of what car is best. To me, I do not care about mod's, street racing or anything like that.. My Si is completely stock.
What I do care about is that a vehicle starts every time, is technician friendly to work on / service and is fun to drive.
Now Im by no means at all saying Honda is better than Toyota, infact I would consider the 2 brands probably more compareable than any other 2 auto manufacturers.
2AZ-FE 12-10-2004, 11:53 AM Tommy & Toyota Tech,
I am not saying that my tC is the best all around car either. I am simply saying that considering a civic to be the best overall car is not valid at all. Conisider all the other cars made. I would much rather have bought a BMW or Lexus, but I did not have the money. I was simply saying that the title for the civid to be one of the best all around cars is not at all true. I owned a 1998 Civic before my tC, and it was a good car for point a to point b, but it was not an all around good car. It started everyday, and it got me to where I wanted to go, but the car was not smooth, and did not perform in the way that it should have in my opinion. Hondas hold their value and they are considered the front runner in their price class, however, with my Civic, I did not understand that at all. I have many friends with Civics, and they are not as satisfied as they were with the car now that it has a few miles on it. Only one of them has upgraded the car also. I am not talking about modding a car either. There is no way to compare cars once they have been modified.
I do agree with you for resale value. I think that Honda's will always be worth more resale than most Toyota's. However, once again, considering the car to have the title or the best all around car says to me that he has not driven anything of value before. I just wanted to know how you can call a brand new car that costs around $20,000 the best all around car for any manufacturer. No car that cost this little can be considered to be the best all around car. I was not trying to say that his Civic is a bad car, I was just saying that with the feel of what mine was and the way that my tC feels, they are totally different and I think the feel of the tC is much better.

Its all good man... we'd all love to be forced to drive that Rolls to work:naughty: (you and me both!) I was just thinking of the cars in its class like the Tc, civic, corolla, mazda3, etc... I agree I like the way the Tc feels(in fact, my gf is selling her 04 EX2dr5spd for a Tc 5spd:lol: ) I like it better except for that dang shifter movement :hammer: maybe a SS kit will make it feel better
Peace
kasimmmmm 12-10-2004, 01:02 PM You're generalizing. The car you buy doesn't have anything to do with your personality.

engifineer 07-23-2005, 07:42 PM I own a tC, and have met many people who own them around minneapolis. I have yet to meet one that was rude or cocky in the least. I dont generalize people in the least, but I have not seen that attitude as of yet. First, to Toyotas surprise, the tC is being driven by a lot of post 25 year olds, actually, most of the ones I see are people in my age group (25-30). The car is quicker than most cars in its class and cost group, but not a racecar. It is a great car that has a good potential for building, which makes it very popular. Sorry you have had those experiences, but try not to generalize.

I know this is old... but I hope no one buys from those guys. They are ripping people off left and right. See scionlife forums for more info. Quick has ripped people off in every business he has started apparently.
