Ok, what is happening is... I bought this 88 landcriuser a week ago. It is rusty as poo. I looked it over before i bought it for 400 bucks as is. Didnt see anything wrong. then I notised every time i make a left hand turn, i see this trail of gas behind me. and i know it is me.
i looked undar and most of the rubber hoses that come out of the top of the tank have rusted off at the metal nipples where they intersect at the wall and go though to the inside between the 1/4 panel and the inside wall. now of course the truck is so rusted i can see through the bottom of the wall and see where they come out the other side and those look good.
i looked in the repair book and i figured out that 4 of the hoses are part of the charcol thing that reuses the unburnt fuel. 2 of those are still conected but i dont know if those 2 are the return tank or to engine or both. the other hose hooks back up to the top of the fill tube.
anyone at all following this? now i need to know what i can do about this. i cant fill up over half a tank or i lose most of it.
any help anyone can provide is very much appreciated. keep in mind this is a $400 car and i only need it to get through at least this winter and spring before i go to school. thanks so much.
